Fragnar 1 Posted January 16, 2002 Hi everyone, I am new to the eye ... but, not really new since I skim this boards quite often Anyway, my problem is that I've updated my dedicated server with the 1.41 patch, extracted all the appropriate files over top of the old ones. The server reads 1.41 when it loads up, but I cannot connect to it via LAN. And the player server disconnects after exactly 2 minutes and 15 seconds ..exactly ..every time. Is there a little trick I'm missing out on, I read the read me on the installation and I am pretty sure I did it right. Any help will be great. I miss playing with my buds
Fragnar 1 Posted January 16, 2002 I attempted some other things with the exe and still haven't had any success... Does anyone have any clue on what I'm doing wrong? Â Oh I'm using a AMD Duron 700 mhz 512 mb of ram on a windows 2000 machine. Â The game worked great up until 1.40 ...now it just won't run the dedicated server.. rekrul 7 Posted January 16, 2002 Sounds like an RRR (reinstall, reboot, retry).
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 16, 2002 Usually when there is a problem with MP games, the source of the problem is a firewall or router problem, or NAT/PAT. Try this: run DXDIAG.EXE on two machines on the LAN, go to the Network tab, and run a test using TCP port 2234 between the two systems. If DXDIAG can't connect, OFP won't be able to, either. Fragnar 1 Posted January 17, 2002 Oh no, OFP worked fine on the lan and internet up until the 1.41 patch...
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 17, 2002 I would still suggest you try DXDIAG -- since you don't know what the problem is, you should use all diagnostics tools at your disposal to try to eliminate possibilities. Do you have ZoneAlarm or another similiar software firewall? ZoneAlarm, for instance, associates the permissions with specific versions of a program through a signature that it forms for the executable. If the signature changes because the file size changes, for example, any permissions that may be set for the old version are lost, and the program won't be allowed to use the network. Fragnar 1 Posted January 18, 2002 Alright, I uninstalled the game. Reinstalled it ..updated it with 1.30, then updated it with the most recent 1.42 upgrade which should have brought it up to speed. Unfortunately, it didn't the dedicated server still crashes, the player server disconnects after 2 minutes. As for the firewall it asks me if I want the ports to be open, so no ..its not my firewall. Once again I'll reitterate soemthing I already stated, before the 1.40 patch, I could play over the network and have people join my server with no problems. Yes, the exe changed, BUT my firewall asks me if I want to allow use for those ports. Obviously this is a bug, I don't see how I'm the only one...if I am I guess I wasted 50.00 dollars because I doubt a patch will come out for one guy.
Fragnar 1 Posted January 18, 2002 Okay, I monitored the firewall and there are signals coming through the proper ports etc, but the player server just disconnects... I don't get it. This stinks, I really want to put up my server..
