OFP Lagging

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a geforce 6800 GT and 1.5 gb of ram. Ofp is running very slow, and in a regular mission, it even drops to 4 FPS. I knows it has to be the nvidia driver since that didnt happened when I was using geforce 4 mx440. I heard that ofp doesnt work well with new card. Im using the latest nvidia driver that came with the bf2 demo. I tried an older version, forceware 69.70, I believe, and the fps didnt improve a bit. I tried lowering View distance, tweaking stuff, but it doesnt help much. I lag with a view distance of 500 just like I lag with a view distance of 2000.

So, for those of you with newer cards, what driver are you using that allows you to get playable FPS? Both the missions that camewith the Lib mod are unplayable because of the FPS.

Help, plz : /

I've also tried those drivers, 71.89. You'll got a very low fps rate with them. They suck. You should use the 66.93 Omega Drivers. Best drivers for ofp IMO.

But dont blame me if the omega drivers are'nt working either. tounge_o.gif

Edit: Can it be that the Nvidia drives became wothless becouse of the SLI support?

I tried the omega driver and it seems my FPS improved quite a lot. I get around 100-150 fps during the briefing which makes me wonder if dxdll measures fps right.

However, I still get around 4 FPS in the lib mission. Anyway, there is a big difference, so ill keep using the omega driver.

Do you have the same FPS issue when running without DXDLL? I mean 6800 GT is a very powerfull card, myself is looking into a 6600 GT but after reading some of the post here I got a bit worried...

Are there any OFP issues with this card serie also without using DXDLL or is it just with DXDLL this is happening?

As long as you use newer drivers you'll get a low fps rate. I doesnt really mater if you use dxdll or not.

If you use good drivers then the geforce6 series are imo very good for ofp. Of course the fps will get lower with dxdll but not to the extreme.

Its not the card lol, its ofp. The card is very good indeed. I run half life 2 on max with an average of 70 FPS. I played doom 3 demo one ultra without lag. I played the bf2 demo with everything on high without lag. The problem is with OFP. If you use the omega driver you do get a lot of FPS increase, but during heavy action, you still wont get as much fps as you want to. Its just that ofp is old and configured to run on old card. The problem is that you might get bad fps in other games if you use an old driver to get good fps in ofp. That didnt happened to me yet. ..

I just pray it will be fixed in ArAs, that we'll be able to run the game with the latest drivers and still get a decent fps.

Any comments from the developers/gods?

Yeah I hope they fix it because OFP ran better with my geforce 2 mx with 32 mb than it does with geforce 6800 gt with 256 mb : /

What a game lol .....

The game was made several years before GF 6800 came so blame the makers of the card and drivers for making them work bad with older games. There's no way BIS could have forseen the future and made a game that would suite the future cards. All the card/chip makers cares about is getting the card to score high in the latest benchmarks.

True, but other games older than OFP like HL work pretty good with new cards, so why doesnt OFP?

Its wierd because in the map desert ambush after I died, I got 115 FPS as a seagun. I wasnt getting less than 45.

The only mission lagging is lib second mission.

Don't think anyone is blaming BIS but it's a bad move from nVidia. Maybe I'm better of staying with my Ti4200 that works OK in both OFP/IL2/etc. with the same driver...
