Bleeding Textures

Recommended Posts

I've been playing with both TexView and PaaTool 1.1 trying to convert some textures to paa or pac and my main problem is "texture bleeding" per this;

TextureBleed.jpg

The basic texture is just 2 colours in this area, one background (lighter) and lines (darker), but no matter what options I pick on the PaaTool the texture bleeds like this. This is both visible using TexView or applying them to a model and viewing in-game.

Whats wrong !!!!!rock.gif?rock.gif

If I use TexView to convert I just end up with a very "course" texture that seems like its trying to make one colour by "dotting" two or 3 slightly different colour dotes side by side

I'm using relatively large textures, 1024x512 so I dont thing resolution is the problem.

There are some truely beautiful airplanes out there made by other makers ............. how are they getting their textures so good?

cheers

add some smudge and stuff like that

end result will look better

Destination format are either Auto or DXT, but the results are all the same.

The RGBA or IA formats only cause PaaTool to lock up and not respond.

As for paa or pac .... in TexView, doesnt matter, no difference in quality, you only end up with a .paa.pac extension anyway !!

I guess the textures might be a little plain, but I'm no good at "weathering" ..... not the artist ! tounge_o.gif

..... but I would have thought simple textures should convert easy anyway.

I see NVIDIA is linked (?) to this tool .... could I be missing something there ?

....... what is also weird is that a colourfull, detailed plane dashboard is within the same texture but seems hardly affected during any conversions mad_o.gif
