UAV with 105mm

Recommended Posts

Hello Ive first searched before I posted this but I couldnt find anything that I could use.

First off im not a uber brilliant scripter far from it and therefor Im asking all of you much more talented ppl.

Is it possible to make lets say the FDF UAV fire a 105mm shell>? Yes I know it isnt possible in real life! But you must imaging the UAV being a AC-130! wow_o.gif

So you could use the scope to check out what is below, and then lock the cam and fire a few shots with the 105 mm canon, and the rounds will impact in the area, lets say 5meters like with HD weapons. Would it then also be possible to change weapon and use a 40mm cannon aswell >>> change the ammo for the main gun???

some help please because I really cannot figure this out on meh own. I need the pro's!  I allways have wanted to create something like the AC-130 videos from Afghanistan where they are targeting ppl running on the ground! There is a AC-130 gunship addon but it has a fixed gun so you have to move the entire plane to target something and it doenst work!

Also on the same note, would it be possible to put a Laser designator on the UAV instead of everything above so you could fire a hellfire missile at the target your locking onto???

help meh please

EDIT

I have found this thingy over at ofpec.com yet to try it though... the old links bottom of post isnt working anymore

Whats the point?

A UAV firing anything? There are some UAV's that can drop bomblets but what is the real point giving it a turret and letting it fire tank shells?

The FDF UAV doesn't have a turret, it's completely AI controlled, with player assistance. If it had a ball turret, I wouldn't see why not. There is no "firing point" on the model. It's just not possible.

They may default a firing point (ever try adding machinegun to the Cesna?) but it would only fire straight ahead.

Those "combat videos" are pretty grotesque. Not only does a helicopter crew screw up, they have been given orders to shoot people whom they are not sure if they are combatants.

They're just in a field. With two pickup trucks. Now if these crew members screw up with something so simple as lazing a target, how hard is it for them to receive orders to destroy non-combatants?

Either case, we'll have to wait for OFP2 for two + turrets per vehicle. It just isn't possible with Resistance.

Once we get more than two turret support we'll be able to get all those fun things.

Commander machine guns,

M3 Lee/Grants,

AC-130,

Russian WWII dual/triple turreted tanks,

Transport helicopters with MMGs mounted on the sides,

All that fun stuff.

no I ment the AC130 footage... not the apache crew messing up those guys.

And I want to imitate a AC130 with a plane with a camera system LIKE the UAV and also stick a turret on it... No matter how it looks

As far as I know, it's really hard to control a gunner AI. So I'm not sure it would be light for your CPU cause we should need a tight loop of do watch and fire... rock.gif

Unfortunately in the current OFP engine, fixed wing aircraft cannot have turrets. (Unless there is some kind of heavy scripting method around it that I haven't heard about). So you really can't create a pivotable point to fire from.
