belgerot 33 Posted April 1, 2005 Besides a few regular bugs this is a nice addon, great looking model and textures that fit it well. The only thing that bothers me is that you cannot turn out as a gunner, and that the 9M14 rarely hits its target. Other than that it is a fairly nice addon so far. (EDIT: 9M14 works well against most ground targets, but I thought it was meant to be used as AA. Doesn't even target any aircraft yet ) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

miles teg 1 Posted April 1, 2005 Probably the main places this type of tank saw combat was when it was used by Egyptian and Syrian forces against Israel in the Yom Kippur War and also by Israel using captured PT-76's which later were modified to carry the much more effective (and similar looking) Cockerill 90mm cannons. Â Also they saw action during the Vietnam War by the NVA in which they were used at least in one instance to successfully assault an American Special Forces camp. Â They are nice amphibious recon tanks, but overall do not do well against MBT's. Â Basically the BMP-1 does everything it can do but can also carry infantry. Â However from what I understand, the PT-76 does have more superior amphibious characteristics then the BMP-1 and BMP-2 which have a reputation for sinking in even mildly rough waters. Â This is why the Soviet Naval Infantry used this vehicle for quite a long time for amphbious assaults from the Ivan Rogov class landing ships.
