ofpgamer 0 Posted March 22, 2005 hi all, hope someone can help me I have problems playing Operation flashpoint gold edition. Since i upgraded from Windows ME to XP professional the game won´t work properly. On ME everything worked fine. I can´t play with the CD, because the drive doesn´t work, but i made an image of the CD i bought. That worked just fine. After updating to XP there are flashes in the game and after some minutes the game crashes. I also tried to reinstall from the CD with an external CD-drive. Installing works well but after 1 or 2 minutes the game starts to act crazy (at the beginning there is just some flackering which intenses till the game crashes). thanks for your answers Steve
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Sounds like a strange thing. Are you sure you have enough memory and a good vid-card? And one other thing do you have W-XP SP1 or SP2?? I heard SP2 can give you some problems
ofpgamer 0 Posted March 24, 2005 hi thanks for posting. yes i have only SP1, i Tried to install SP2 but that didn´t work, don´t ask me why.... perhaps its also a problem of disk space: I only have 18,6 GB total, free space 5,14GB. Could that be a problem? I have 240 MB RAM. But I also had the same before installing XP. so it could be that SP2 could fix it. Right? thanks
theavonlady 2 Posted March 24, 2005 (Moderators: please correct the spelling in the thread subject) Describe this flickering? Do you see your desktop icons when OFP flickers? Also, when you upgraded to XP from ME, did you reinstall your graphics drivers? Maybe you should?
ofpgamer 0 Posted March 26, 2005 i didn´t reinstall all drivers after upgrading only the ones that didn´t work with XP. The flickering is hard to describe...like milliseconds black screen every second....Understood? ;-) Thanks for helping me
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted April 1, 2005 PErhaps your RAM memory is causing this. 240mb is VERY little. Even if it's not causing this, I would still upgrade the RAM. I use 1.5gig and think about upgrading to 2gig.
—=R.I.P.=—™ 0 Posted April 1, 2005 I agree with Cpt. FrostBite.  XP uses alot of ram so a upgrade to at least 512MB or more would be beneficial for all your apps, just not OFP  .  You can try increasing the paging file size.  This might help till you get more ram. Also, check your vidcard driver to make sure it is compatible with XP.
