Placebo 31 Posted March 22, 2005 Is your motherboard based on the VIA chipset and have you checked your ASPI layer?
Guest The Cobra Posted March 22, 2005 To check what's in you computer (you can see if it's a VIA motherboard etc.) use CPU-Z. -->Klick me!<--
Placebo 31 Posted March 23, 2005 For the best performance yes his ram is low but it won't stop him from installing the game and the file read error has nothing to do with that
btt175 0 Posted March 23, 2005 I downloaded the cpu-z and it says that my motherboard is Model: Dimension 4300 Chipset: Intel i845 Rev: A3 Southbridge: Intel 82801BA (ICH2) BIOS: Version A02 Tell me if need anymore info Thanks
theavonlady 2 Posted March 23, 2005 OK, you've got a Dell. It says your BIOS is version A02. Have you checked through Dell's support site if there are more updated versions for your BIOS and graphics and audio adapters?
btt175 0 Posted March 23, 2005 On the Dell site the updates are: A01 A02 A04 A05 A06 there isnt an A03, which do i install
theavonlady 2 Posted March 23, 2005 Install A06. Also check for updates for graphics and audio drivers for your particular hardware configuration.

My video card is NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400, i installed it after i bought the computer, so i looked on the NVIDIA website but am unsure of what to download from the site. btt175 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Hi i recently posted but am unsure of what else to do i ran scandisk, defragmented my c drive, i updated to A06, tried to copy the disk files to c drive, none of these worked looked for updates for my graphics and audio drivers but couldnt find any. Do you know of anything else i could do?
Placebo 31 Posted March 24, 2005 Did you check your ASPI layer? Do you have any cd copying software or virtual cd software? Have you uninstalled them if you do? One thing that works for some people is to go into the BIOS and reduce the FSB speed and/or the PCI latency, that has allowed some people to install, then once installed they return them back to normal and the game runs fine
btt175 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Its OK, it works now i found a previous thread that sorted it out. Thanks
