Hm a good point to start at might be one of the sites on the world wide web like

OFP Editing Center

It has a huge archive of tutorials and a large forum withs lots of friendly people around, who are willing to help you (of course if you took some looks at all the tuts and examples).

Do you want to make a complete new Unit with new 3d file or only change skins of it?

the first step you have to do is to find a 3d file of an Soldier you like (with permission of the maker) or the soldiers from BIS

than unpack it with an tool "Winpbo"

Winpbo

now you have a lot of paa or pac files which you can save as tga with texview Texview

now you can change the textures and have to convert them back to paa or pac.

I was just going to start my own topic when I saw this;

I too want to learn how to retexture. I have searched OFP:EC but found only one tutorial (by EJ Will) which sadly said you had to use a malfunctioning program (P3D Texture Swap Utility) so that doen't help very much. I have made retextured legs (gotta start with something) and made it a *.paa file, but just stuffing it together with the rest of the files doesn't work.

I used the civilian model in the model-pack released by BIS a while ago, and I made a config as instructed by the tutorial I mentioned.

I know it's really noobish to ask this, but: What did I do wrong?/What do I have to do?

I would greatly appreciate help in this, and I think our serial killing friend here would appreciate it too. He should, btw, read the tutorial by EJ WILL. It appers to cover some things, at least.

EDIT: Image of my new pants. They're only the result of a couple of minutes fooling around with photoshop but then they are only supposed to be an example.
