Well, i think i completed last alterations, so it should be ready.

I am sending the P3D to your email right now.

And if you will not like anything when you see the model (to many faces here, or there, or something like that), tell me - the sooner the better :-)

well i dint took a look at it now,cuz im in office, but i guess it got many many many faces ;-)

youre lucky i wanted to play HL 2 or Kotor this evening but i guess ill start with texturing as soon i learned for my fucking test tomorrow ghostface.gif

uhm i didnt ment the sope itself, i ment the sight, so when youre looking throught it and se the normaly 2 lines crossing in the middle and there you aim :-P

Thats called a reticle. Also commonly referred to as a "crosshair".

These are the MIL-DOT style reticles typically used in US military weapon sights.

and it would be nice, if that was reticle of some long range shooting scope. Because this thing can shoot pretty far away :-)

In case you are wondering about the scope used on the XM109, you won't be able to use that one in OFP. But using a standard Mil-Dot reticle scope should be just fine, many of us prefer that style anyway.

The XM109 uses a special device called BORS (Barrett Optical Ranging System), which is an integrated ballistic computer and riflescope. Pretty much, it's the sweetest thing I've seen for snipers ever. I have a presentation on it, and if everyone would like I can post links for it here.

The BORS system has a lot of features, many are not needed in OFP, and other features just aren't possible in OFP either. For the most part, you can already have the option to see the range to your target in the game, and things such as barometric pressure and wind just don't matter in OFP. You could model the scope for this addon to look like the BORS, but that's a lot of extra work that would serve little purpose I think.

ok then, let's stick with the mil-dot reticle.

It would seems not only extra work to make the BORS scope, but it seems also stupid to me, when in-game it won't work as the BORS system anyway.

Here's something that might work to simulate advanced sights and fire control computers; You could allow the weapon to "lock" on to targets, like the vehicle-mounted wepons do. The "diamond" reticle is adjusted by range.

Also, you could make the round a very small, fast, guided missile with very low maneuverability.

Than he has to change the weapons class to a rocket launcher or static weapon.

OK, change it to Rocket Launcher class. What are the limitations? This is really not going to be a primary weapon. It's a specialist weapon, meant for anti-material, anti-armor tasks. Whatever the problems, I'm sure there are work-arounds.

Nice one!!!

Looks good in game and it brings AT-Sniping to a new level:P

But...(there is always a but) when you fire there is too much smoke

yes, i have received several critic messages concerning the smoke - i will remove it.

But for now, i beg everyone to help me finish it - post your ideas and thoughts on how the gun should 'behave', etc.

It's sometimes a bit hard to hit something from a long range, due the bulky handling and big zoom... But it works anyway.

Though, that... issue might be offset by the fact that this ain't meant for man-sized targets, right?

very nice weapon, deadly stuff.

i would maybe suggest different ammo types, AP,HE and WP(incendiary) and plz dont remove all the smoke, these type of rifles make one hell of a blast when they fire.

the bulky handling:

ok, could be improved. I wanted to make it difficult to aim while not in prone position, but when in prone position it should be easy and stable. But it didn't worked exactly this way.

I think it could be used for sniping man-sized targets also, because it's got accuracy of !??1 MOA??! ...i think i read it somewhere. So with proper ammo it could be used as a sniper rifle. (according to the following site, the 1MOA means ...)

the zoom:

i don't know what parameters has the scope attached to it (i even don't know what type of scope is that).

The zoom should be altered definitely, but i don't know how.

the ammo types:

yes it should definitely use various ammo types, but i haven't much data concerning the ammo for this rifle.

I will try to find some more info, and make appropriate ammo types.

the smoke and muzzleflash:

i think the same, but there are other people who thinks otherwise. So, i will make a compromise and just lower the amount of dust.

For the muzzleflash, i would be happy if anyone gives me the picture how the flash look like, because i don't know.

Well... All I can say that it's a nice 'lil gun, and is good at Anti-Inf too. The slow moving, I mean even in prone it (sight) doesn't stop crazy_o.gif , which makes it a bit tricky to aim men. But, it's possible. Depends on the zoom level.

Actually, I'm having fun with this from about +1000m range... The other men aren't though...
