Matthijs 40 Posted February 22, 2005 I'm wondering, what is the value I should keep an eye one, when determining the resolution values of LODs? I have been using the number of vertices as my guideline, when comparing my work to resolution values of BIS word. Then again, I can imagine that faces have a bigger impact on CPU load. Which would be best to look at?
[aps]gnat 29 Posted February 24, 2005 Not 100% on what you really want, but maybe this can help; http://llw.the-dropzone.net/main....&sid=
Guest Posted February 24, 2005 That page seems to give pretty good advice. Just remember your setup will be unique (CPU, Vis Quality etc), but those numbers seem fairly good. Keeping in line with BIS models is a good guide, but remember most peoples PC's are a better now so you've got a bit more room to play with.
Matthijs 40 Posted February 24, 2005 Look at the name of the author... I wrote the article. I have always assumed that the number of vertices determines how much CPU/GPU load a model causes. But I have never asked this to the specialists. Anyway I just got told, the number of vertices determines for most part how much CPU/GPU load a model causes. The number of faces is less important
