I`m using an Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton with 512 kb level 2 cache).

It is strong enough to speed up OFP. You should use 1 GB RAM or more that will speed up OFP too.

I really need clarification on this - Some people say that 512 ram(DDR) is enough, and then there are people like you that say getting more will help... well, will it really? I've been wondering if I should upgrade from my 2.6 P4 to a processor with something over 3000 MHZs, and then again, maybe more ram could be a lot better.

Without a doubt a faster processor and more ram will definitely improve OFP's performance. I went from 512 gig of ram to 1024 and had a increase in performance of up to 30%.

I've since gone from 1024 to 1536 and I've had a increase of 25% in performance. Well worth it!

No question that going from 512MB to 1024MB of RAM makes for a big improvement with OFPR.

Back in OFP CWC days, it was similarly true about going from 256MB to 512MB.

And I can speak from personal experiences from both CWC and OFPR and on different machines.

Try it - you'll like it!

I went from 256 to 1.5 gig DDR. Makes a very big difference. And not only in OFP. RAM is one thing that is often forgotten, but is very important.
