OFP Freezes

Recommended Posts

Hi

my specs:

Geforce 4 Ti 4200 8X AGP 128 MB (MSI)

Nforce 2 motherboard (MSI)

80GB Western Digital

Soundblaster Live 5.1 (sucks, I know)

1024 MB DDR Ram Infineon

-----------------------------------------

I'm using DXDLL (works fine on Geforce btw)

and OFP 1.96.

When I'm playing OFP, it suddenly freezes and I can't do anything. It's strange because my Brother uses the same addons like me and hasn't that problem. (he has Geforce FX5400)

I'm using Nvidia Beta Driver (newest) but the Problem isn't fixed. Before I used offical Nvidia Driver newest version but the Problem was there too.

Maybe you can help me sad_o.gif

Thanks smile_o.gif

Maybe a soundcard issue? Afaik there were ctds/freezes with sb live cards and hw accelleration...

Also, you should use older drivers for the gf4 if you don't need the newer ones for other games. The new drivers are optimized for fx/6x00 cards and may give less performance on a gf4.

OFP freezes and I can do nothing, no Strg alt Entf, nothing, just reboot. The Screen doesn't turn black it's the last rendered picture you can see.

It's strange, and it happen randomly.

I thought it could be a problem with some Addons but no way.

It freezes and I have to reboot.

I had the exact same soundcard and similar problems. After I threw it out everything worked fine.

To check it, uninstall your soundcard and play with onboardsound for a while.

I get lockups with the latest Nvidia beta drivers,I had to revert back (think I am 71.25 now)

Have you checked/cleaned components inside your case?

Like the cpu and video card fans, power supply vents if you can too

Did you tried lowering the "AGP Aperture Size" in the BIOS?

It should be ~64MB.

MfG Lee

Why, that doesn't make sense but I will try.

I have the Sound Patch installed, but I have the crackling anyway.

ok, looking for new drivers.

Thanks for help smile_o.gif
