christophercles 0 Posted January 20, 2002 Ive played through all of fp and gr, and i can clearly say that i was REALLY disappointed by gr. I loved the game, it was really good- while it lasted. I started off on the hardest dificulty level, and a day later i had finished the whole game. This really got me dissapointed since i spent $80 (aus) on a game that lasted a day. Ill wait too see how it handles at my next lan party to see if it was really a waste of 80 bucks, but i was much happier with my buying of flashpoint. Guest Posted January 20, 2002 Ghost Recon isn't too bad. Flashpoint is a far better game, but GR does have its plusses. For a start, controlling yourself inside a building in Opflash is very tricky, but GR works well. GR can also do cities, which flashpoint doesn't have (yet). It's certainly a fair amount of fun, but given the choice, Opflash wins by a few lengths. My problems with GR is how rigid and fake it feels. You never really feel like a soldier running, holding and firing a gun... you feel like a floating camera moving around and lining a target up over other characters. It's quite like Swat 3 in this sense, though not as wooden. The death animations of soldiers and rebels are great though, and the environment feels a lot more realistic than flashpoint until you realise that they aren't nearly as large. S_Z 0 Posted January 20, 2002 I agree with you christophercles...GRs singleplayer campaign is way too short…fortunately this game is really good in multiplayer (if you play without respawn).  I played the singleplayer campaign for about a week and then you know where all bad guys are so there is no fun in playing the campaign again. I wouldn’t recommend GR to someone who doesn’t play online…now I only play this game online and it great fun.  OFP on the other hand is a great singleplayer game but unfortunately I have big trouble finding a server/host without lag. I think OFP is great online too IF I can find a game that doesn’t lag…but that doesn’t happen very often. I really hope BIS can improve their netcode even more. CanisDEK 1 Posted January 20, 2002 In multiplayer I prefer GR simply because it's not a pain in the ass. OFP has Greater potential IMO, but still I play GR because the game runs without any big problems in MP. BUT the games are very different and I like them both. christophercles 0 Posted January 20, 2002 The other thing i liked about gr was the way the characters carried over, and the way they were like the best, so thiey new how to land every shot and stuff, which made it pretty fun to play. I must have gotten "bobby bruning" or whatever that guys name is killed like a million times throughout the missions
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 20, 2002 Speaking about the names, has anyone else noticed that some of the Russian and Resistance troops are named after the developers?
christophercles 0 Posted January 20, 2002 Yep, and that dimitri's (from red hammer) face is a developer too?
Agua 0 Posted January 20, 2002 For the scope of what GR is portraying, I think it is an excellent sim. As has been stated previously, both OpFP and GR have their strengths and weaknesses. I play, and love both.
