Rogue2020 0 Posted January 11, 2002 Ok I have played flashpoint on my new computer and I'm getting lag were I never had it on the old one and I have aliasing problems were I didn't before also..... first off my old computer was like an AMD750 MHz with voodoo 5 and 380MB ram now I have P4 1.7MHz with Geforce 3 TI500 and 512MB ram So I guess what are the best settings? What's the best to use with antialiasing?...these are what I can select 2X Quincunx Antialiasingâ„¢ 4X What's better to use with filtering? Bilnear Trilnear Anisotropic What's the best to use with flashpoint? Glide Direct 3D Direct 3D HW T&L Also I have noticed with cutscenes the game like skipping a frame or two......... I have scratchy sound also....it's probably because I have like 3-4 things sharing IRQ 9 and my sound card is one of them and I know how they need their own IRQ.....but I just can't get them to move.... Damage Inc 0 Posted January 11, 2002 The best antialiasing for you is Quincunx, I have no idea about the filtering and you're best off using Direct 3D (you can't get Glide anyway on your card).
Guest Posted January 11, 2002 Anisotropic is the best filtering, I think. And do the quincunt thing too...
RedRogue 0 Posted January 11, 2002 Is this a brand computer or a self-built? Predicting this will get moved to troubleshooting If you can/willing move the soundcard to another PCI slot and then reboot and check the IRQ, it should change. Keep moving the card around until it is on another less used IRQ. Now if you built this yourself here is a computer assembly tip. Build the computer with video card only installed then install windows and install the video driver after any Mobo drivers that are needed. THEN shutdown and install another card (Sound card) and install its driver, shutdown and repeat process for all expansion cards you will be installing. This usually results in all expansion cards being on their own IRQ, but occasionally there will still result in a double assignment so you will need to move one of the two cards. Also try never to use PCI0, the PCI slot next to the AGP slot, it will almost always result in a shared IRQ between what is in that slot and the AGP card. Hope this helps. tlx 0 Posted January 11, 2002 Rogue, you should consult your mainboard guide. Most mainboards have some PCI slots *not sharing IRQ*. These may be right for your sound card. Also be sure to disable "Plug & Play O/S" in the BIOS. This assigned an own IRQ to my sound card under XP.
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 11, 2002 It's self built and I have already tried with the IRQ's...uninstalled everything for my sound card and then moved it to another PCI slot and for some reason it wouldn't let me install the drivers myself it just installed em and it's still on IRQ 9....right now my cable modem card is next to the AGP slot which is also on damn IRQ9 but Geforce is on IRQ11.....when I first looked it said like 13 things on 9....but like 5 were those steering things so that's normal...... Rogue2020 0 Posted January 11, 2002 I'm not sure if plug and play o/s is disabled or not....i'll check but shit i'm downloading right now.....guess it will have to be later......
tlx 0 Posted January 11, 2002 I see, but did you for sure use one PCI slot marked non-sharing? And did you set reset your ESCD data? I guess you're using XP since you did not state it explicitly. Are you then using the native drivers like you said the OS installed them itself or did you pick up some new for your card?
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 11, 2002 This is my mother board: http://www.motherboardexpress.com/specs/index.cfm?ProductID=11320 My real questions are like why am I having lag...why was voodoo so much better for antialiasing?.....I just don't understand why it's running like that in flashpoint..... Like max payne...outside where it's snowing it lagged bad on the old computer and on this no lag at all but I had aliasing problems where I didn't before then I turn antialiasing onto 3 shades with the game settings because 4 I get an error and then I get lag in places where I didn't before on my old computer.....my point is in rooms where it ran fine on the old computer on this one I have aliasing problems and then turning on high antialiasing makes it lag there now....so what's the deal between voodoo and Geforce........I can't really say this card is better than voodoo 5........ tlx 0 Posted January 11, 2002 Hmm, according to the manual of the P4T-E (page 30) all slots are either "shared" or "used". I see it has onboard AC 97 sound. Is this disabled in BIOS and what sound card do you use? Is "APIC" enabled in BIOS or disabled? What's the "Graphic Window Size" you use? I suggest you use WCPUID to find out which AGP mode is enabled. Maybe its only running in AGP 2x.
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 12, 2002 Yeah I just went through allot of shit to more SBlive off of IRQ 9 but no luck....what I did is: Uninstalled everything on SBlive took the chip out started up shut down put the chip in a different slot then it was it to start with started it and it installed it by itself. and the bastard is still on IRQ9......... I'll check out those settings right now and get back......the board stopped working earlier, that's why I stopped posting then.......
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 12, 2002 Ok the on board AC97 was set for auto...I disabled it....I'll check out that other shit....then I'll see if I can find what your talking about on that site.....
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 12, 2002 I couldn't find APIC in bios.....and I don't know what to download on that site but I couldn't download shit.....

Rogue2020 0 Posted January 12, 2002 Ok I saw a setting in bios for the APIC....it was set to APIC...all you could turn it to was PIC.......guess it's enabled....
tlx 0 Posted January 12, 2002 Ok APIC should be enabled. This utility which you couldn't find prompts info about FSB's and other internals. Will post a mirror. Use it to see if you're mainboard uses the video cards full capabilities (AGP 4x). I wonder why your sound card is not assigned to IRQ 5 by the BIOS. What IRQ does it say in the ESCD prompt you get on system startup? Your TV card also uses an audio driver. These tend to be faulty. Did you try with it pulled out and drivers uninstalled? Just saw there's also an updated BIOS available: P4T-E: Version 1005 Final
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 12, 2002 No I removed everything on SBlive...........and I do know about the bios update....I'm going to update asap......also I found out I can manually assign IRQ's....I'm going to do that......
tlx 0 Posted January 13, 2002 Let me know what helped
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 13, 2002 I found out it was set to use a PCI graphic's card....maybe that is the source of some problems but the IRQ thing is not going to be easy...I assign something and it locks up the computer......
tlx 0 Posted January 13, 2002 You mean which video BIOS it should use? Shouldn't affect you when only your AGP card is present.
Rogue2020 0 Posted January 13, 2002 Yeah.....ok then that's good...I set it for AGP anyway......
