Bobby - CSLA team 0 Posted November 12, 2004 Czech company Libra a.s. developed special piercing ammo for Special Units and Police. Criminals nad terrorists are very often equiped with bulletproof equipment and therefore Czech gomerment asked for special ammo to deal with them. New ammo - SNAIL - for short weapons (pistols and revolvers) has been developed. It is more powerful than regular rifle ammo and is able to penetrate all equipment which i resistant to attack rifles, including bulletproof vest with kevral filling or ceramics plates. Even titanium helmet does not protect against this kind of ammo. Standard layreded 30mm bullet proof glas (used un armored cars for VIPs) can be easily penetrated (about 2 cm holes) as well as 8 mm steel plate. Some info, that this ammo originally mentioned for SF, leaked to Ukraina and to some Arab countries was presented in press in Czech Republic. Maybe another famous CZECH product after SEMTEX. Ares1978 0 Posted November 12, 2004 http://www.nationaldefensemagazine.org/article.cfm?Id=1103 Seems like a Czech version of the Swedish M/39B. Well, with 80m/s higher muzzle velocity. Them Czechs sure can make good weapons and ammo. Â
Bobby - CSLA team 0 Posted November 12, 2004 What disturbed be little bit is leak of this ammo to middle east, as was written in Czech press. Imagine Iraq insurgents using this ammo against kevral vest of U.S. Marines.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted November 12, 2004 I doubt this invention will help the world to become a better place.
Ares1978 0 Posted November 12, 2004 I'm sure the amounts that have leaked are so small, they won't make any difference. Especially if it's intended for pistols. Of course, it would only be fair play if they had large quantities of it.
Bobby - CSLA team 0 Posted November 12, 2004 Sometimes I am curious about our security agency...if such a things can happen... Questioned amount of ammo is 14.000 rounds.
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted November 12, 2004 I doubt that 14.000 rounds of ammo will lead to 14.000 corpses...

Tovarish 0 Posted November 12, 2004 I'd be more worried about reverse engineering.
bonko the sane 2 Posted November 12, 2004 I'd be more worried about reverse engineering. yup, most likely allready underway in full strenght... <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Libra says he could apply the same design concept to any caliber ammunition. He is working on a 7.62 x 39 mm version for the Czech Republic army and it wont be just small arms ammo...but look on the bright side, at least there will be less depleted uranium vaporising on the atmosphere
Ares1978 0 Posted November 12, 2004 There's no mystery to them. "Anybody" could make them already. But try and find a weapon that doesn't break. Most pistols seem to have serious problems even with normal SMG loads.
Tovarish 0 Posted November 12, 2004 On a lighter note.... Quote[/b] ]nad terrorists are very often equiped with bulletproof equipment and therefore Czech gomerment asked for special ammo to deal with them. *chuckle*
Leveler 0 Posted November 12, 2004 I wonder how powerful the 7.62 version will be And with its simple design, construction will be possible for anyone.
