AtStWalker 0 Posted November 8, 2004 Hi ! Berlin1945 has released a Pe2 Petlyakov / Peshka bomber ! Aircraft History:  The Pe-2 entered service in 1941 as a three-seat dive bomber deriving from Petylakov's "direction" to build a high altitude interceptor. It was the most outstanding Soviet twin-engined dive bomber of the war in many respects, with over 11,000 built and continued in service until the 1950's.  Confirming the versatility of the aircraft was the many roles in which versions were both produced for and undertook in, including but not limited to Dive bomber, high altitude fighter, reconnaissance, fighter bomber, tactical bomber, trainer and night fighter.  Affectionately given the nickname "Peshka" - which means a pawn as in chess - the Pe-2 was considered to be by many the most elegant VVS aircraft of the war.
