Bad serial number given at setup

Recommended Posts

I bought Resistance and got this. Must play, must!

I saw some posts about that "bad serial number given at setup" problem and didn't found much answers.

I don't get it?!? At setup you write serial number and if it's correct setup goes on. How it can suddenly decide and say that i didn't put correct serial. Frustrating! Is it so hard to write so simple code? well I would appretiate some help.

I reinstalled it let me think... 8 times. always the same problem.

That was a fast reply all right!

Well I installed resistance saw the problem and uninstalled.

I checked registry in HKLM and found key in hex with 15 hex characters, it's not missing.

Also I am admin on computer and that's the only account.

Thanks again for lightspeed reply.

I bought Resistance

Does that mean the Game Of The Year edition or the Resistance CD?

If the latter, from what CDs did you install Cold War Crisis?

i have CWC from before version 1.0. I had that version for about two years and have never been updated because slow internet connection. Now I buyed secondhand Resistance with manual, box and stuff related and installed it with CWC ver. 1.0.

Was kind of happy I saw all those upgrades. But I wasn't happy for a long sad_o.gif

Have you tried uninstalling everything, then finding all references to Codemasters in the registry and deleting them?

Obviously if you have other Codemasters' games installed only delete the Opf entries smile_o.gif

i had to reinstall windows because my HDD went KIA, and because i lost the Resistance cd key i ordered a new copy which finally arrived, and guess what!

I got this "bad serial number given at setup" message.

I have tried to switch the zero with 'O', i have even took a magnifying glass to be sure i have not mistyped any single letter!

I have tried to unistall it completely, even the CWC, then i cleaned the registry, and still i am getting this message.

is it possible the key could be wrong???

I haven't experienced any problems before with the old one.

If this item in Avon's FAQ doesn't help then I can only suggest sending an Email to the publisher's customer support as the best solution to getting an answer, am I correct in assuming you bought the Czech version? If so I guess Cenega is the publisher to contact.

Feel free to cc me into the Email to help expedite matters ([email protected]) smile_o.gif
