weird sound problems

Recommended Posts

I have a soundblaster card and i get the static, crackling sound bug, but i've realised recently that if i have an mp3 player running in the background while i play ofp, i never get the bug.

Also it only really seems to occur when im connected to the internet!

I've tried all of the usual fixes without much success, but has anyone else noticed anything like the above?

Can't say I've noticed either of those, but then I don't recally ever having an MP3 player running at the same time, I assume winamp?

yeah, i use winamp, actually, for the first time today i got the problem while using winamp.

But if im disconnected from the internet it dosent happen at all, which makes no sense to me.

I finaly ditched my creative soundblaster after finaly admitting that it was more trouble then it was worth.

Advice is remove the PCI card and go with your onboard SiS7012 , and if it supports it , a virtual 5.1 like C Media.

To enable your onboard sound , look for instructions on setting your BIOS .

Look on your MotherBoard manufacturers site for the latest drivers as the stock SiS ones sometimes dont work.

Yeah I've done exactly as Orson suggests, my SB Live Value is sitting to the right of me underneath my window and I'm using the onboard sound that comes with my MSI K7N2 Delta L motherboard smile_o.gif When I have the funds/inclination I'll invest in a "proper" soundcard smile_o.gif

The key with using your onboard sound is to ensure the drivers are up to date smile_o.gif
