Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 28, 2004 I had this with a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 using the Cat 4.7 driver. It ran ok in OFP until you loaded larger mods/addon collections it fell over, either CTD or Green screen error. Even with 1.96 and -nomap. I came to the conclusion that the card is just crap Sorry not very helpful but at least it does confirm your diagnosis of your card being duff.
Dark-TM- 0 Posted July 28, 2004 I had this with a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 using the Cat 4.7 driver. Did you try whit other Drivers ? Geez I'm sooooo happy now. I just wasted 167$ of my Hard-Earned bucks. -_-
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 28, 2004 4.7 - Still doesnt like Tonal gets D3D Error - Out of Memory 4.6 - The card was stable and ok right upto loading Tonal/Large Mods then either an "Out of Memory/D3D error" or a CTD. 4.5 - "Greenscreen" error 4.3 - D3D Error or "Greenscreen" error I will say it worked fine for everything else but only had a problem with LARGE ofp addons packs. I kinda lost interest at that point and sent it back saying it wouldnt work with my equipment. The only thing i can think of is that there is some inconsistancy with Sapphire and Asus boards - I was using an A7V8X-X with a Barton 2500+ and XP Pro. Is there anyone you can ask to put the card in their machine to see if it works? Â When I was having problems I asked around on some of the kit forums and a number of people had the same card with no problems - admittedly they didnt say that they played OFP. Failing that try the line: "It wont work with my equipment and software - therefore its not fit for use." I dont know what the consumer laws are where you are but its gotta be worth a try? Placebo 29 Posted July 29, 2004 AGP Aperture size is set to 128mb or less? Without intending to insult your intelligence are you positive the -nomap parameter is in correctly? Have you tried uninstalling and installing again patching up to 1.96? Tried mod folders?
Dark-TM- 0 Posted July 29, 2004 AGP Aperture size is set to 128mb or less? how to set/change this ? -nomap is on and -nosplash also. and I have no addons.
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 29, 2004 The only way to change this is through the BIOS. If you have a consumer-oriented PC such as a Dell, the BIOS may not allow you to change it. Otherwise, try pressing DEL, F2, or F12 immediately after turning on or rebooting your PC, or look for a message somewhere on the screen that indicates how to enter the BIOS setup mode. In some BIOSes like the American Megatrends BIOS used by Gigabyte, you then need to press another key (Ctrl F1) to reveal advanced options.
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 29, 2004 OK on startup you'll get the BIOS screen (Black with white text) Will say "Press Del to enter config" or similar. Press the 'Del' key until your bios config screen appears. Usually there is a menu. Standard Advanced Features Chipset Features HD Detect ...etc. In one of there sections will be an option to change your AGP Aperture size. Turn is down to 128 if its higher, else reduce it and see what happens. You must save your settings on the menu before rebooting. Good luck.

Dark-TM- 0 Posted July 29, 2004 It's the Videocard right ? I did -The AGP Thing. -The Motherboard Drivers. -Unstall/Reinstall Videocard Drivers
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 29, 2004 It looks like it... But, just clarify a few things a couple of questions: Does the pc crash with anything else? When it crashes does it just CTD or come up with a corrupted colour splash etc? Since you installed the card have you tried getting OFP to autodetect the setup in the preferences? (You never know ) As for the drivers etc. As long as you have the latest graphics drivers, AGP port driver for your motherboard you should be OK. If it still CTD's I'd be inclinded ot say it was the card mucking you about. Can you ask anyone else to test it for you on another machine with a different mainboard/config? Mister Frag 0 Posted July 30, 2004 well i have sapphire 9600xt with no problems at all.. so tell me again, does it crash with other games also? have you checked the temperatures of your machine? According to one of his posts on the previous page the problem isn't limited to OFP, all games crash: Quote[/b] ]Nevermind. It's my Bloody Videocard. All of my Games crash now. The other thing I would try is lowering the AGP transfer rate. Set it to 1x to see if the problem goes away, and if it does, raise it over time to 2x, 4x, then 8x (if supported) until the problem reappears.
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 30, 2004 From the sound of it all i think hes done as much as he can (or is willing ot do). I found my problem was mostly limited to OFP but others seem to have had problems with this card before. Ebuyer Feedback - This is where I got mine from and while the majority of people that bothered to add feedback 3 or 4 are/have had serious problems. If you take a look at the Hardware geek sites (no link atm) they arent very nice about the card. No one seems to come up with a conclusive theory why these seem to work for some and not others but the popular choice is to ignore the 9600 and got for the 9600Pro or better. Given the odds and the amount of time you've spent faffing about I'd try and get it swapped for something else. Only my opinion though.
turms 0 Posted July 30, 2004 Quote[/b] ]others seem to have had problems with this card before I really havent seen 9600 related issues on this forum(dont know of other forums though) anymore than gforce xxxx issues, or other radeon cards in general.. There are few OFP bugs wich can be repaired, but i doubt that there would be a problem with ofp and 9600 sapphire.
Placebo 29 Posted July 30, 2004 @ July 27 2004,21:00)]ASUS A7V333 Is it the A7V333 or A7V333-X? IIRC Asus has a pretty handy windows based app for updating the bios, you've download/installed the latest version? What about the Via 4in1 drivers, which version of them do you have? The latest VIA Hyperion drivers are 4.51, give them a try

Placebo 29 Posted July 30, 2004 Any chance you can try your card in another PC? Only other thing I might suggest (if feasible) is a format and complete install from scratch, obviously that's a major hassle but good to do every once in a while
