Kombat 0 Posted July 16, 2004 Just thought Id share this with anyone else haveing problems with their mouse wheel not working in OFP. My wheel works fine outside of OPF but not in the game. Now it does. this is what I did. R click on my computer/properties/device manager. open mouse subfolder and remove device. Now the tricky part. I didnt restart computer but now theres no mouse to navigate the OS. hit the little windows icon on the key board to bring up start, then use arrow keys to get to setting/control panel. use tab key to get to add new hardware. select no, let me select hardware for a list. select mouse and just use standard mouse types/standard PS2/port mouse and use OS disk for the divers if need be. Restart computer. This worked for me and now in OPF I can use wheel mouse as per what the game manual says its used for to highlight item in the action menu the pick-up/get in jeep sorta stuff. Anyway hope this works for you. Might now be able to remap the wheel in the controls main menu??? havent tried that yet. my stestem OS win98SE Nvidia 64mb AMD 1.7gig 512RAM soundblaster PCI128 everything is working great.. Mister Frag 0 Posted July 17, 2004 To put it mildly, Logitech's MouseWare drivers blow. They make good hardware, but the drivers are worthless. I have a Logitech mouse myself, and use it with the standard Microsoft mouse drivers for XP, which is why my mouse wheel works in the Action menu. It's an old problem, and besides Logitech, it may also afflict other less well known hardware vendors. If you want to continue using the Logitech drivers, poke around their Control Panel applet and see if you can find a checkbox to turn on Microsoft Office-compatible scrolling behavior. That may solve the mouse wheel problem.
Kombat 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I have a micro innavations optical wheel mouse. it has the two (left and right) standard mouse buttons with the mouse wheel in the middle. It seems that alot of these mice have drivers that come with the product, but leads to the devices wheel not working in OFP. I used the standard (generic) MS drives included on the OS disk and things are working fine, in and out of OFP. I was also able to remap the controls to include clicking down on the wheel to bring up the action menu in game play. good luck. Kombat
