jonnygo-lightly 0 Posted June 20, 2004 My sound goes off after there are many sounds happening at the same time e.g.large battle especially the JAM2 weapons- everything is fine except no sound, however i have noticed that if i then fire a fast weapon it comes back on sometimes e.g. the cannon on DKM's Havoc. I know it is NOT my sound card or because i have turned my speakers off or something stupid as i have checked and considered these things, can anyone help? Please. theavonlady 2 Posted June 20, 2004 If this is an onboard audio chipset, make sure you have the latest drivers. If you've got a Sound Blaster Live card, get anything else but that.
jonnygo-lightly 0 Posted June 20, 2004 its a new laptop with a built in sound card and there aint nothing about its spec
theavonlady 2 Posted June 20, 2004 its a new laptop with a built in sound card and there aint nothing about its spec Go to the notebook manufacturer's site's support section and see if they have updated audio drivers. BTW, you should be able to tell what audio chipset your notebook has by poking around under CONTROL PANEL\SOUNDS AND AUDIO.
WarWolf 0 Posted June 20, 2004 This might well be stating the obvious - but if the sound disappears when you are near a loud explosion(s), then returns a few seconds later it is simulating the temporary deafness that would occur at that time.... this is probably not your problem, but thought I'd say it anyway
jonnygo-lightly 0 Posted June 20, 2004 I have looked Avon but there's no info so ill go to the site (toshiba) and wolf ur stating the obvious and that aint the problem, even though u wouldnt hear no sound if a grenade went off in ur ear

theavonlady 2 Posted June 21, 2004 Ive got the latest drivers but no luck atm. There must be a CONTROL PANEL entry from where you can control your sound settings from. When you eventually find it, try setting your audio chipset's HARDWARE ACCELERATION setting to minimum and disabling it.

Mister Frag 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Just FYI, that likely turned off EAX and positional audio. These two items have been problematic in many drivers, including those from Creative Labs which originated the EAX specification. I used to have a SoundBlaster Live!, and its stability and sound quality were questionable at best with many games.
