Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 13, 2004 Initially when I installed FDF (and llaumas skies) everything worked fine. Then I installed several BAS addons and still everything worked smooth. After a multiplayer session I became aware that I had missing several obligatory BAS files. So I installed OFPFOR and Tonal island (and islandopfor2) plus several addons once again. plus the 2 tonal-tango patches . After this my computer always said. Cannot create 3D device. But when I started the game without FDF mod and without BASMod it worked. Someone has an answer...or put differently. Do you see a way how I can two versions one with FDF and one with BAS that DONT corrupt each other?
theavonlady 2 Posted April 13, 2004 Are you installing FDF, BAS, etc., in separate mod folders or piling them all into \AddOns\ or \RES\AddOns\?
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 13, 2004 Are you installing FDF, BAS, etc., in separate mod folders or piling them all into \AddOns\ or \RES\AddOns\? let me try this. But maybe the problem lies in the OFPOR and its patches!
EiZei 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Are you using 1.96 + nomap? My solution would be to put bas stuff and fdf into separate folders since those are not balanced with eachother anyhows.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 13, 2004 yeah you are both right. This time I installed FDF into the Resistance Addon and BAS into the normal addon folder. It seems to work. We will see in multiplayer. Eizei you are totally correct about their compatibility. Maybe we are just lucky because there are many out there that use both at the same time and it appears to work. For me..well I have to wait and see... during a Multiplayer session!
benu 1 Posted April 13, 2004 We have everything from BAS on our server and also FDF mod (and most other stuff from Kegetys). If we start FDF on the server it is started addionally to all other addons, so in effect we are playing with BAS+FDF then. No problems so far. Although i am not sure if all BAS addons we use are original ones or fixed versions from Killswitch
Winters 1 Posted April 13, 2004 BAS & FDF only work for me when they are in seperate mod folders, I can then start a game using the FDF mod shortcut but still be able to play using BAS units. This looks sweet when you blast a Tonali Armored vehicle and you get the cool FDF explosions and fire effects
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 13, 2004 Exactly. And playing BAS without the nice explosions (cause forget to install ECP+FDF+BAS) would be kind of not so exciting!
theavonlady 2 Posted April 14, 2004 Exactly. And playing BAS without the nice explosions (cause forget to install ECP+FDF+BAS) would be kind of not so exciting! BAS is not a mod but both FDF and ECP include modified \BIN\config.bin files. By definition, I would say you're asking for trouble trying to run with 2 mods simultaneously and addons and scripts that might require one particular config.bin file over another. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 14, 2004 Okay, and if I now even need tacticalblunder? I think since it is not realy a mod but a simple collection of addons it should work. Can I risk to try?
Heatseeker 0 Posted April 14, 2004 And you run FDF+all BAS addons without -mod folders Even with huge Tonal? wow -
benu 1 Posted April 15, 2004 I am not sure who you am talking to, but we use fdf inside its modfolder and most everything else in another modfolder (ecp has it's own). The setup is kind of: each "real" mod (config.bin/config.cpp) has it's own modfolder, the rest of addons goes to to one other folder.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 15, 2004 I run both simulaneously, FDF in the FDF-folder, BAS in the addons folder. Runs realy smooth.
