bedlam 0 Posted April 4, 2004 it seems like nvidias V 56.** drivers doesnt work in ofp not with TI4400 anyways... i have to change drivers everytime i wanna play ofp. anyone else got this problem?
Waterman 0 Posted April 4, 2004 I got this problem, except with an ATI Â card(s). Â I've had and 8500, 9200 and a 9600 and after everytime the computer is restarted I have to re-install the drivers for it, so ofp runs without a CTD. Â This is also with several driver versions and Omega ones too. Â

BraTTy 0 Posted April 4, 2004 I have a FX5600 Ultra I had artifacts and lockups with version 56.57 or something Nevertheless I have just installed 56.72 which was released by nvidia on the 1st of this month Things appear ok so far
KeyCat 131 Posted April 5, 2004 Anyone with GF4 Ti4200+ using the latest version 56.57 in XP? Any issues? /Christer (a.k.a KeyCat)
Rastavovich 0 Posted April 5, 2004 Well, I don't know what problems you encounter with that vid drivers and that card, but I have the same card/driver and now my OFP restarts my PC quite often.
Cosmic Evolution 0 Posted April 5, 2004 I had similar problems when I first installed my new Radeon 9600XT & when I upgraded the drivers for it as well. I fortunately solved these issues fairly easily. The newer versions graphics drivers from these two companies run "management services" constantly in the background on your system.  If you CTRL + ALT + DEL and look at the  processes tab, you will notice a couple of .exe's running called something like nvidia*.* or ati*.* (on mine their called atiev2XX.exe or something like that)...  These "management services" are most likely whats causing your CTD's (or at least in my case they were).  You can test this by shutting them off and trying to play the game.  They aren't needed for anything that OFP does, or from what I can tell, anything at all.  If they do turn out to be your problem, just type services.msc into run under the start menu (for win XP-2000) and turn them off permanently (set them to manual and they will turn themselves on if needed). If you can't figure out which processes you need that are running, feel free to post them here and I can try to deciphor them for you.  Hope this helps, especially you bedlam... EDIT : Before I turned stopped (then deleted) these files from my system I couldn't play OFP without it rebooting my computer.  EVERY time, no exceptions. One thing though, I don't use any of the special tools or features that come with my card. I don't use the file player, or the tools suite, or anything like that. So these files my be needed for some of them, just not for your gaming experience.
BraTTy 0 Posted April 5, 2004 Oh my wife has XP and a ti4200 128mb version and I just looked and she is running 52.57 or something, time to upgrade her drivers
Rastavovich 0 Posted April 6, 2004 Thnx Cosmic Evolution, that seems to have caused it. Edit: Seems that is not the only cause for my rebooting system...
bedlam 0 Posted April 7, 2004 too bad it didnt fix my shit.. i guess im forced to use old drivers..
sanctuary 19 Posted April 8, 2004 The 55.xx and the 56.xx drivers have some new side-programs considered as "features" that can just be not compatible with your PC, according to what you have installed on your system , its configuration and your security settings. I experienced that incompatibility, when i was testing several sets of drivers to find the best one for my system and applications. Those new "features" are fortunately not there in the 53.03/53.04 drivers (this version number depends of your OS, but it is the same driver in fact) , so you should try those if you really need to keep a 5x.xx, despite they are more optimised for the Geforce FX serie of nvidia cards and not a lot for the other GF series. I hope it will help.

bonko the sane 2 Posted April 9, 2004 up to this moment the best Nvidia drivers for playing ofp (talking visuals here, no flickering textures) in my GF5600fx Ultra seem to be the 44.03 drivers, but im running 56.72 now as it does improve performance a little bit. No random reboots whatsoever, except when that Btr-T explodes my pc reboots

No random reboots whatsoever, except when that Btr-T explodes my pc reboots OFP is a DX8 game and 44.03 is optimized for it while 56.** is optimized for DX9 games. So that means that OFP has the best performance with DX8 drivers. You could test it your self by running 3D mark 2001 which is for DX8 with the two drivers. The difference in performance is quite big.

Sure you might not have as many glitches with the early versions but when talking about performance for your card in DX8 games the 4x.xx is the best.
bedlam 0 Posted April 9, 2004 im using 52.16 and its working perfectly.. but newer games require 56.**. so i have to change driver when i wanna change game..
