Ctd 15 seconds after custom sound is played

Recommended Posts

Anyone knows where that is coming from? I dont even use own custom sounds but even if someone else plays a custom sound I crash back to the desktop. I have tried it with sound: "no hardware acceleration" yet, today I will try it with. I hope it works. But why the hell do I perfectly hear the sound and then a couple of seconds later I crash. sad_o.gif

I had this a couple of times.

There is a certain size/format of *.ogg file that does it I think.

Sometimes comepletely seperate from OFP such an OGG file will crash my windows explorer.

Replacing the sound with one slightly larger in filesize should help.

Yes even the few times i made some wav files using sound recorder I experienced this, some even would make the sound stutter and even slow down the computer and crashing any time after that

From what I remember, lowering the sample rate helps, and it depends on the length/size of the file, type of compression maybe I recall

I am no sound guru, maybe someone has a good explanation

Maybe a bug in OFP's ogg codec (probably only in conjugation with specific soundcards/drivers)? Haven't seen this happening myself (yet), but maybe you can give the ogg file to other OFP players and see what will happen on their systems? You find the custom sounds of other players in your OperationFlashpoint/tmp folder.
