theavonlady 2 Posted February 24, 2004 Comments: I like the soldiers alot, though I'm still not sure who the enemy is. No matter - shoot first, ask questions later. The missions are very elementary but OK, for a beta release, I suppose. I like the custom voices and music. The objects are very nice. So is the island, plants grass and trees. However, I do notice quite a bit of lag in the 3rd SP mission, where you start off with your convoy attacked and enemies are in the grass on the forrest edge nearby. The weapons seem nice but I really haven't gotten a close look at them yet. The one thing that really disappoints - and this has already been mentioned - are the vehicles. They really detract from the otherwise eye appeal that everything else shows. I would hope that the vehicles will be greatly improved when the non-beta finished version of this mod comes out. It would be nice to get a response here from one of the SAF team leaders for further discussion.
TakanoFukada 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Hello, I decided to leave the thread running for a day before I post any replies on this... Thankfully, this demo release garnered a fair amount of interest... all comments regarding flaws and such have been noted. I'd would like to point out the following points in particular : The demo contains BETA1 versions of armoured vehicles which are considered very preliminary work. The vehicles have since been improved tremendously. Next, we already have our own version of kevlar helmet (not BIS's) available. But it didn't make it into this release. :P theavonlady... just for you, i specially uploaded this set of screenshots of some of the current look/feel of our vehicles... if you were referring to the truck and jeep, the textures will should be reworked on soon enough. http://www.mindwavemedia.com/wchmbr-ss-bx25-v1-2.jpg http://www.mindwavemedia.com/wchmbr-ss-bx4050-v2-5.jpg http://www.mindwavemedia.com/wchmbr-ss-sm1-v2-3.jpg The following briefly describes how this release was put together... ------------------------------------ Release 1.0 Notes Apart from Project War Chamber's BETA1 versions of SM1 light tank and Ultra OWS APC which are included in the add-on pack, Release 1.0 content was developed by students from Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Design and School of Information Technology. Nanyang Polytechnic is a tertiary level educational institute in Singapore. Working closely with the Singapore Army's Training Development Branch and the Defence Science & Technology Agency, the students brought Operation Flashpoint into the local Singapore context and created a SAF training and combat environment. This release was first made available to the public through the Singapore Army's Web Portal at http://content.miw.com.sg/LifeStyle/Games/ls_games_ofp_downloads.asp ------------------------------------ So as you can see, local collaboration work here has been quite extensive... Feel free to post any questions for further discussion... Project War Chamber - Singapore Armed Forces http://www.mindwavemedia.com/warchamber.shtml

miles teg 1 Posted February 24, 2004 Cool. Thanks for the info on the kevlar helmets. Â It sounds like your team is developing this mod nicely. Â That's good to see the civilian/military cooperation on this mod as well. Â I hope that you guys will use the real life SAF people to help you guys make some highly realistic missions and perhaps open up some servers for MP games where some of us civilians can go up against real life SAF military folks online. Â Â I'd be happy to play the part as OPFOR and give them a good run for their money as I'm sure many of us would who have real life military experience in our own countries. Convoy ambushes are my favorite thing cuz then I get to set up a nasty cross-fire area. Â That and reverse-slope tactics (shoot 'em in the back as they pass by) are always fun as it nicely recreates the chaos of war. CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Release 1.0 content was developed by students from Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Design and School of Information Technology That's a great idea using the game for a school project. I wish we would have had projects to work on like that instead of doing binary. Â EDIT: Anyone notice a bug with the vehicle wheel "bottoms"? I didn't see it mentioned yet. Sinister-tnuC- 0 Posted February 26, 2004 the best thing about this mod was not the new units or vehicles...but the MISSIONS loved them because they are a chance to test out the new units/vehicles/island.... something alot of other mods should focus on
