wizzywig 0 Posted February 11, 2004 hi I have built a forklift truck but I'm having a problem with the wheels the problem is that on a forklift truck the back wheels are the directional wheels and I have them configured as the front wheels all works fine excepted I need the wheels to be reversed so say if I turn left the wheels face right is this possible
BraTTy 0 Posted February 12, 2004 I'm stumped, maybe could reverese the steering wheel axis, then the steering would prolly turn opposite way you do ,maybe the wheels will,I dunno
wizzywig 0 Posted February 12, 2004 This is a PM I sent BraTTy Quote[/b] ]Hi it wizzywig I got 2 questions for you 1 Is there a way to detect the units directions like say if you Turn how do I detect that. This is so that I can make a detection script to say if I go left it animates animation 1 and if I go right it animates right detecting the Forks turn it must be a +/- equation as it sets back to null any ideas?? 2 If you remember you created that trailer script now I have PMed you before but I was a bit stoned and I guess you did not get what I meant now I implemented your script and it worked fine but when moving it went off to the side please if you have a updated script please e-mail me so that I can star sending out some addons O and also did you ever manage to fix the bridge thing as I have a fully working USS Starship Enterprise with a separable saucer section and I would like to use the script just to hold the bottom/top together during flight ill post this in main forum just in case pm is messed up thanks for your time WIZZYWIG If any one has any ideas let me know
Master_Chief 0 Posted February 12, 2004 it is impossible to reverse the steering and have it work like regular wheels. you could make a script that would turn the wheels the opposite way, but then the wheels wouldn't be able to rotate due to the 'one anim per selection' bug. i've tried this before with a halo warthog which has normal front steering and reversed rear steering, and it would take a heap of scripts to get it working but it still would look out of place. it best to just configure them as non-steering wheels. BTW post a pic of the forklift!!!
BraTTy 0 Posted February 12, 2004 So I can answer here? It might help someone. I don't know of a way of determining which way the wheels are, thats along the lines of also knowing how much throttle a person may be using and we wish we knew that Animating the wheels manually, sorta how the planes and the towable pak36 are.You wouldn't be able to angle them and rotate them and using the multipart gear methods like the Corsair would make way too many faces (depending on the faces of your wheels ,this may be a solution for maybe a 8 position turning action) But still don't have a way of determining which way the wheels need to be turn,so I dunno, unless there is a rear turning wheels already in the game, and for that matter is there rear steering wheels ingame? I am not a car guru at all. Have you tried searching for related stuff,i recall some 6 wheel topics and such The tow script: last week I actually did work on the towing script some, because I know that it may help other addons with a revised version and the fact that the pak was offcentered I believe and I accounted for that,as others have had that problem using the script. And what ya mean...of course I remember doing the job,lol I had to setup my missions again, was quicker than me trying to find backups (in storage) I haven't gotten to the bridge bug yet I haven't work on it much asides brainstorming as I have a problem towing planes as we all know setdir and such levels the plane and unless it starts level,it looks funny (a jet be ok? most are level I think?) I can use setvelocity for some as setpos also levels a plane I am think along the lines of actually towing a invisible platform instead,so if anyone is working on it,theres an idea, but its all related to walking on moving vehicles and keeping the objects active which I will conquer when I get back to that I have been busy building the ultimate A6M2 Zero (all new models and such) http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/~ww2ec....pic=595 helping people and have toyed with my dirtbike project lately, but I get nothing done, lol
@cero 0 Posted February 12, 2004 Lol, the Enterprise Anyway, how about working in a electric FLT like the one in the pic below, could be easyer for you. The reason why is because you driving sideways, most of the times I was driving this I was reversing, with the forks facing back, so you wouldn't have a problem with it. Sorry about the picture quality, I couldn't find a better pic of a "Jungheinrich". Allso, have in consideration that alot of diesel truks travel on reverse when loaded due to safety reasons. I'm driving a 4 tones Caterpillar and a 4 tones lansing. most of the times I have a load in the forks is far to big for me to see what I got in front of me, so I have to put my elbow in the back of the seat and reverse all the way. I wouldn't worry much about the direction they go, but if you can sort it out it will be even better, but is not vital. BTW, if you want some pics from a digi cam I can send you some, but be warn, they are stinking dirty @CERO.

I'm gonna have to do'em tomorrow, I'm off from work for a week and tomorrow is my last day before my hollidays. This pic is from a Toyota, but is exactly the same as the Cat I drive. @CERO. Matthijs 40 Posted February 14, 2004 Hm, yes. Small chance, but it's worth a shot. I wonder what would happen if you name the wheels the wrong way around. Left becomes right, right becomes left. Has anyone tried this?
