IceFire 0 Posted February 3, 2004 Hey, I was playing OPF and I have been using a trick that I figured would work in the game but am not sure. When I am a black op and I am inserting or exctracting from enemy territory or are near water, I run in the water deep enough just so that my head sticks out. I figure that sinse my head would be the only part showing it would make it harder for the enemy AI to spot me. Does the AI really work like this? Does this tactic then work? Imagine, the enemy would then have to spot me about the size of a head, not my whole body. Makes it harder for them to see me.
The Frenchman 0 Posted February 3, 2004 It once worked in a mission where I had to crawl along the coast and be undetected.
joltan 0 Posted February 3, 2004 Just remember that in OFP your gun doesn't work anymore when you're more than knee deep in water...
IceFire 0 Posted February 4, 2004 This thread is a question regarding the physics dynamics of the game.

Your boots gonna make those ....plash ....plash... plash sounds when you are walking and then the enemies can hear you from a mile. theavonlady 2 Posted February 4, 2004 This technique often works for me in specop missions. It's not perfect but crawling in shallow water appears to give some form of cover, certainly more than if you were standing at the same spot. Another thing about OFP's waterline is that the AIs seem to instinctively avoid going right up to it, when searching an area for your presence.

m21man 0 Posted February 4, 2004 The AI probably avoid water because it's programmed into the game. Otherwise you would shoot one shot at soldiers in the surf and they would go prone and drown .
