How can i decrypt bin to cpp files?

Recommended Posts

Sorry tried to find any info on OFPEC and other sites but no one answers this question. Is there any tool like cpp2bin, but the other way round?

ok I answer the question by myself:

You need the OFP Manager over at OFPEC and then must install the .NET Framework from Microsoft if you don't already have it.

In the readme of the OFP Manager it says you can decrypt .bin files to .cpp

No it does not work!

When I decrypt the .bin files to .cpp files with the OFP Manager the files get corrupted. Even when I dont change them at all and copy again into the game as .cpp I get error messages.

Pbo Decryptor 1.3 does the job nicely. Do a search on Google for "pbo decryptor 1.3" and it's in the first couple of results.

PBO Decryptor 1.3 works fine most of the times...

@rudedog

thanks, it works fine for me with PBO decryptor 1.3

(Wonder why Amalfi did not implement this feature in 1.5)

but from the thread that Avon pointed to, it is not reliable so any other idea?

From that thread there is NO reliable tool. UnPBO 1.3 seems to work best for me so far, so i'd say use that (until anyone says different) and try to double-check the result.

just tried to decrypt the config.bin from ECP mod, but unPBO 1.3 screws up the file and it's not usable anymore.

The same happens with OFP Manager.

So I'm helpless.

thats because: some mod's where jerking on him about the .bin converting ( because they wanted to keep their fancy shit secured )

Are we a community or what?

I mean if mods are afraid any configs would be changed than they should not release it to the community!

BTW ECP is open-sourced and they are not afraid of any changes!

Try www.google.com

Then type unpbo 1.3. I found it on a Spanish or so site. There quite enough sites still hosting it.

Like, double-click the exe file, click on "Open File", select the file you want to open (maybe change filetype from "*.pbo" to '*.bin" first if you want to decrypt .bin files), and click on "Decompress".

PBOs will be decrypted to a folder of the same name (without the .pbo at the end) and config.bin will be decrypted to a config.cpp in the same folder.

I don't know what more you could need to know for that program...

Edit: ups, misread that. You meant documentation for OFP Manager?!? Just start it up, (left-)click on any file first and then right-click on it. Select "load table of content". Then open treeview of the files inside the pbo and click on the one that you are interested in and either "view" it or "export it to file". Nothing mysterious to that program... The only thing you have to know is that the program needs the .net framework, so if it does not start at all you may need to install that. And iirc it only works with cwc files, so you have to put the pbos into the cwc addons folder so it can find them.
