Wozza 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Gidday. I bought OFP (the origina version) waaaayyyy back when, but never really played it because my computer was, frankly, crap (*mutter* *grumble* minimum requirements *grumble*) =P Anyway, I've just upgraded and started playing again, and I've downloaded the updates from the OFP page, up to version 1.46. My question is, can I upgrade further without buying anything else? (I'm, likesay, skint ;) ) I'm thinking of official upgrades and expansions and whatnot, as well as maybe user-created stuff. I saw some links in another recent post, but I figured I'd find out what version I should have and stuff, before I went downloading everything. And, on an utterly unrelated note, does anyone know if the faceplate of an LCD monitor can be cheaply replaced, if it's scratched? Cheers- Wozza

You won't be sorry. Quote[/b] ]And, on an utterly unrelated note, does anyone know if the faceplate of an LCD monitor can be cheaply replaced, if it's scratched? The frame around the LCD soft panel or the soft panel itself? If the former, who cares?! If the latter, I'm sure it'll cost plenty.
GoOB 0 Posted December 15, 2003 As Avon said OFP is best experienced with the Resistance upgrade, and if you get GOTY you are sure to get more bang for your buck. You can get OFP GOTY at really good prices nowadays. (Namely Å7.99 at play.com) And I assure you that you wont be disappointed. And you can always keep the original version as a nice mantlepiece to remind you of times past. And besides you will get as much playing time from GOTY as you will from say twenty other games (many many more actually) through the player built additions like FDFMOD, BAS, DKM and all the others. I have been playing OFP since a few weeks afters it's release (not including the demo playtime) and I still play it atleast five or more hours a week. Also, regarding the LCD-screen. How much time has passed since the initial purchase? My mate got his screen replaced free of charge. But then again it got scratched by the box wich the screen itself was packed in. Wozza 0 Posted December 16, 2003 Cheers for the replies. I guess I'll have to get GOTY, then =) As for the monitor, it is the actual soft pane on the front, and the monitor's still under warranty, but it was scratched by a well-meaning, cloth-wielding flatmate, so I don't think it'd be covered. Cheers again. -Wozza
