Tamme 0 Posted November 21, 2003 It's totally safe to remove them. EDIT: Goddamnit I was too slow.
bonko the sane 2 Posted November 22, 2003 an even better way is to go to windows explorer > left click on my computer > right click on your hard drive (my case is C:) choose properties and press disk cleanup...tick boxes as desired > that will sort out all the crap in the HD in one go
edc 0 Posted November 22, 2003 THat reminds me, I got a coupla of 500 meg + files sitting in my C drive. hiberfil.sys is 511 megs, and pagefile.sys is 768 megs. I assume that hiberfil, would be stuff from the last time I hibernated it, and pagefile would be temporary memory(oddly though, I've never seen change in size, even after restarting my computer), but would it be OK to delete them? crashdome 3 Posted November 22, 2003 Best way is to just disable hibernation... WinXP will delete it on it's own. Also, pagefile is dependent on your virtual memory settings. I'd leave it as "Windows managed" if it isn't already.
