THere was one in NamPack 2, but its was just a "placeholder" until they made armor/air packs, which they ended up decided not to do. It was just the bradley model, and didn't have Shilliegh missiles.

I know this is not the SEB nam pack thread, but why did they decide to stop working?

Well, I believe all of the SEB members are on BAS and I believe BAS is a little busy at the moment, so that would explain alot.

Hi there...

Jaguar, that's where you're 99% wrong wink_o.gif

I know someone who's working on one, and he showed me some pics of his model, and it was looking OK.

I'd show them but I haven't heard from him in a while sad_o.gif

And a big 'booooo'@the Clinton Administration for retiring the only armour in the 82nd sad_o.gifmad_o.gif

The M551 was still a very capable piece of kit mad_o.gif

Well I hope someone finishes Sheridan light tank addon. I've already made a mission using the Russian BMD for airborne missions (using the An-124 addon as the cargo plane). It would be awesome to make similar 82nd or 101st Airborne missions with the Sheridan light tank or perhaps making some missions simulating its usage in the first Gulf War (I believe its last usage in combat).

It was a very interesting and potent vehicle. But ultimately it was not the Clinton administration that did away with it, but the Pentagon (specifically General Reimer) that retired it and failed to fund a light tank to replace it. Several awesome prototypes were created (including one that could have extra applique armor bolted on) but sadly they were not bought by the US Army who instead is going to use a variant of the cheaper Stryker wheeled APC from what I understand. I believe some units using Stryker's are supposed to be coming to Iraq in the current force rotation that is underway. It'll be interesting to see how many get blown up by RPG's and roadside bombs.

If the Pentagon had any sense, they'd just give the 82nd Airborne some up-armored M113's (like the Israeli Zelda APC's) and mount one of the newer 105mm turrets on it. Simple, cheap, and effective with good resistance to RPG's and roadside bombs.

Anyhoo.... back to the Sheridan, I think a Sheridan addonw ould kick ass for Vietnam missions and Gulf War missions (as well as missions simulating the Panama invasion).

Well, The M-8 AGS which was to replace the Sheridan was cancelled in '96..The Sheridan was then ordered out of service. These measures were based on a need to reprogram modernization funds for operational contingencies, which is a fancy way of saying "the Bosnia Peace Keeping Force".So it's the lighter XVIII Airborne Corps formations like the 82nd Airborne and the 2nd Armored Cav. Regt.(Light) which have paid the price for these ill considered budget decisions. It remains to be seen if that price will involve dead soldiers mad_o.gif
