ThePygmy 0 Posted November 9, 2003 Ok here's the problem. I had a Geforce 2 MX installed. Then I got a Gainward Geforce FX 5200 Pro. I installed the FX and OFP worked perfectly. Then I got the famous o.pbo problem but I didnt know how to fix that back then so I reinstalled the game... Worst mistake in a loooong time... OFP starts but all u see in the menu is that green colour u see beneath the islands and in O2. I tried several drivers but none worked. Im now back on the MX and noticed on the AVP2 demo thats it "clippy" as in NoClip mode.... Something to do with the drivers.... If u check on www.gainward.com u see my card need a special driver. I need an OLD driver (i think) to get OFP to work with my FX. Any, ANY, help would be greatly appriceated FOREVER! So my questions is: How do I get my OFP to work with a Gainward Geforce FX 5200 pro 680 TV/DVI and Where can I find old drivers (if thats the problem). And yes, there was a difference in game experience... from 1024 in viewdistance to 5000! Again, help VERY appriciated.
sanctuary 19 Posted November 9, 2003 According to several sources , and from my testings , it seems that the 30.82 set were (and always are) the best drivers for both OFP and for Geforce 2 cards. With any 4x.xx , there are loss of performances in OFP for a GF2 (and that is visible , not just a number in framerate) and for several other games . But , for the FX serie of Geforce cards , that is totally different , 4x.xx should be the kind of drivers you should use. Actually i read that 44.03 seems to be the best for performance and stability for FX users , but some people prefer 45.23 for their FX ( you can find all those driver on http://www.nvidia.com ). ThePygmy 0 Posted November 12, 2003 Thanks for replying! I try those two FX drivers you mentioned... Sure hop it works as many FX drivers dont support Geforce FX 5200 cards... there's a jump between The geforce 4 series and geforce FX 5600... Unlucky me... Well, thanks, I'll try it out and post a answer tommorow...
