How do i...make a chinook carry vehicals

Recommended Posts

I was playing a coop and I watched a CH-47 haul a M1 underneath attached to cables. I would like to know how to get the option to carry vehicals with a chinook.

There are several vehicle attaching scripts around, I would usualy tell you to search the OFPEC but that is going to be down for a few days.

You can either try and script one yourself, wait for the OFPEC to come back up or search this forum (or another site)

Edit: I found one from ages ago, the readme:

Quote[/b] ]

Attaching Vehicles to Other Vehicles

Script by Devil

ICQ - 99193563

E-Mail - [email protected]

Description:

This script shows you how you can attach a vehicle below or above another vehicle.

Installation:

Select the SQM file and the sqs files. Press Extract. Locate your Operation Flashpoint directory

(default is C:/Program Files/Codemasters/Operation Flashpoint/)

Open folder /Users/YourName/Missions and press New Folder. Call it "Attaching Vehicles.Intro" and press Extract. It will now show up under

Desert Island in your Mission Editor!

Editing Directions:

This is a rather easy script. First, open the map in your SQM file. First notice the UH60. This is the vehicle that will be holding the

other vehicles. You can change this to another vehicle, but preserve it's name as "aCarrier"

Then take notice upon the player - that is you. Make sure you are in the trigger you start in, that will activate the attach script, but

feel free to change the unit as you please.

Next you will see 7 empty jeeps. These will be your cargo. Change them to any vehicle you want and they will ALWAYS stay where you tell

them to in the script (default is -3 below the previous object)

Take notice that the name in each is the same as in the trigger that activates the script. So make sure you don't change this.

Then you see 7 scripts (transport.sqs-transport6.sqs) this is where you can edit how high or low you want the object to be.

Let's edit the first jeep that is at the very top. Open transport.sqs file in your wordpad and you will see this:

_carrier = _this select 0

_cargo = _this select 1

endCargoSession = false

goto debug

#nochmal

_x = (getPos _carrier) select 0

_y = (getPos _carrier) select 1

_z = (getPos _carrier) select 2

_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z - 3]

_cargo setDir (getDir _carrier)

~.01

? (!endCargoSession) : goto "nochmal"

exit

To edit the height, go to the line that says "_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z - 3]"

What this means is that the x and y coordinates stay the same while you "- 3" the z coordinate in meters.

So if we wanted to make the unit 5 meters ABOVE the carrier, we would put "_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z + 5]"

And if we wanted to make it 10 meters BELOW the carrier, we would simply change it to "_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z - 10]"

Don't forget NOT TO include the quotes and to copy it exactly as written.

Notes:

I highly recommend you to use with only with FLYING helicopters and planes. Sometimes, the cargo will die when its above a

car/armoured/support unit.

Don't forget the script trigger (the one on the right) MUST BE activated for this to work

The script:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">

_carrier = _this select 0

_cargo = _this select 1

endCargoSession = false

goto debug

#nochmal

_x = (getPos _carrier) select 0

_y = (getPos _carrier) select 1

_z = (getPos _carrier) select 2

_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z - 6]

_cargo setDir (getDir _carrier)

~.01

? (!endCargoSession) : goto "nochmal"

exit

Guest jacobaby

you should know of course that there is no way on earth a chinook could carry a tank.

However, the BAS MH47 cargo version has built in slinging ability for a variety of US army vehicles, and the BAS MH60 has built in HMMWV lifting, you just need to hover low over one.

The script from the mh60 is the better one, and accurately "breaks" the ropes if the choper flies over the appropriate speed.
