Dermax 0 Posted October 2, 2003 Mods come and mods go, most never see the light of day, but to those that persevere great rewards await them. A group of fellows and I are working on a mod that covers the anglo-irish conflicts of the past century. This is blazing new ground in a simulation of a war that has never before seen screen time on a PC. This is a chance to make history. We are already working flat out on units and vehicles, with many nearing the production stage, but yet despite the progress we are making, one big thing still remains... the map. While swimming through the desert and vietnam maps, you will never find one that conveys the feeling of the terrain of the British Isles, mainly Ireland. None yet have the rolling hills, flowing streams, and towering cliffs, that make the green hills of Ireland what they are. However, no one in the mod has the technical capabilities to create a map. This is a call to all you great mappers, who want to do something that hasn't been done before. I realize that much work has to go in to making a good map, but if you are willing to help we shall overcome. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, "Give us the map... and we will finish the mod!" And I have been wanting to see any of the British isles in OFP for a while. And seeing the whole anglo-irish conflict put in to OFP. Think about it OFP is perfect for it, somewhat scaled down. I am working on a website that should be up by tonight, so I'll post the address once I finish the layout. I am excited about this! Being that this mod will be fictional, yet based on true events, I doubt we will actually moddel Ireland, however I do want a island with terrain as close to the real isles as I can get... of course, the whole topic of this thread was to recruit a mapper... and that hasn't gone good Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

BM We have seen that city maps don't suck. BAS's Tonal island is a great example of this. Those cities are quite large and cause no lag. And AI works fine in them too.
