Guest Scooby Posted December 19, 2001 If I had to choose I would much rather go again into Finnish army and train in a traditional way with combat simulators and with live firing attack / defend courses than go to US army to play computer games.

 last time I checked,  every instructional course has a classroom portion, even a minor one, to imbue the initial knowledge into the soldier. if you arent receiving initial instruction, then your men are spending half their time lost and confused.. I guess thats the way the finnish are on the battlefield if we are to analyze what you are saying... Please don't speak about things you do not know. We are really happy to see such a great comnuity has grown around OFP and we should support this community as long as we can :-) And i almost forgot: MERRY XMAS TO ALL OF YOU GUYZ :-) p.s. i beg your pardon for my english <span id='postcolor'> Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too. I'm a helicopter flight sim fan, so I'm hoping that some basic realism improvements from the Marines Virtual Battlefield system will transfer over to Operation Flashpoint. I'm hoping for improvements to the flight model of helicopters and/or improved avionics and improved control of the helicopters and planes. Operation Flashpoint should *NOT* become a hard core flight sim! But still, right now the helicopers in Operation Flashpoint are so over-simplified that a small amount of Realism improvements with the helicopter flight model and/or avionics shouldn't hurt! For example, the Apache should be able to do stand off attacks with Hellfire missiles at MUCH greater ranges than what currently works in Operation Flashpoint. AND BIS could probably model LOAL and LOBL modes very easily. You'd probably have to be a hard-core Apache Helicopter fan to know what LOAL and LOBL means. Basically it's just 2 different ways to shoot the hellfire missile(s) at enemy targets. Merry Xmas, again. -Vern.
Gaswell 1 Posted December 20, 2001 Lock On After/Before Launch, right? I think I remember something from my Longbow 2 days.
WTFonslaught 0 Posted December 20, 2001 re: Heyverns post.. couldn't agree more..a more realistic flight model would be great... Apart from being far more challenging, it might make some people think twice about jumping in them..

What's up with that? :-) I also noticed that they didn't mention anything about throttle control in that latest bug list. Did they lose their joystick coder recently or something? The way the throttle currently works is correct for helos, but incorrect for planes. So we need a "forward/reverse" option for the throttle in the setup. Satchel 0 Posted December 20, 2001 With an import/export plugin for .p3d we wouldn´t need VBS1, we could make our own (at least from the looks that is).
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 20, 2001 Hey Satchel, is that a quote from a movie in your signature? Just wondering...
Satchel 0 Posted December 20, 2001 I was looking for a funny signature the other day, then Redstorm put up the Specialists character bios, and as i stumbled upon "Jack Stones" motto, i couldn´t help but laughin, so i took it. <a href="http://www.ghostrecon.com/specialist.php Here" target="_blank">http://www.ghostrecon.com/specialist.php Here</a> another few of them: "I was too old for this crap twenty years ago. You can imagine how much I'm enjoying it now." "It was very considerate of our friends to provide me with so many targets, do you not think?" "You! Hold my pint while I get the satchel charges. Yes, of course I'm kidding, you stupid bastard - you think I'd trust you with the beer?" If you´re searching for a new nick/ callsign, go here: http://www.f-16.net/pilots/nicks.html there are also some stories behind some callsigns, such as 'Bambi Killer': Some years ago a guy was in Gagetown learning to fly the Kiowa. One of the events was learning to fire the gun pod; the mission was to pop up from behind a hill and shoot at a target a mile away. It takes a few seconds for the lead to travel downrange, and as one pilot was watching to see if he'd hit the target, a deer made the fatal mistake of leaping from behind cover at the wrong moment. For the rest of this fellow's career in the Canadian Forces, he was tagged "Bambi Killer". or "Elvis" This guy was always hard to find when you needed him, so when someone was looking for him, other people reported sightings ('I saw him over at the...'). or 'NOID' : A friend of mine is an F-15C pilot in the 493d FS at RAF Lakenheath. His call sign is NOID. The way he got it was one day, as he went up for a BFM engagement, he did a great job. He shot up all of the targets, including his flightmates! His problem? No visual ID... hence the name NOID. (Mark Andrews) (Edited by Satchel at 9:31 pm on Dec. 20, 2001)
