OPF is able to use both Quad and 5.1 speakaers. You only need to turn sound HW acceleration on. Be sure to install latest drivers, especially for SB Live, as older drivers contained some bugs (one of them caused footsteps to be very loud).

I have 5.1 with subwoofer (cambridge Sound Works) and OFP sound is just great. If u don't have the latest drivers Radio voice will be strange and as Suma said, footsteps will be loud as ####.

Footsteps loud as ####. This is what I'm getting. And I have the latest Sound Blaster Drivers for XP. However I have the Sound Blaster Live version (not the 5.1) Is there a workaround?

I rely big time on sound and I'm starting to get killed out there.

Turn off Harware acceleration in Options- Sound menu. The problem should disappear.

You can also try unofficial beta drives available here:

They" target="_blank">http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/drivers.html

They</a> seem to have fixed the sound problem for some other forum members.

SpaceAlex if he turns of H/W acceleration he won't get full surround sound.

I have a soundblaster live linked up to my home cinema system and I get the annoying bug with footsteps when I have the h/w accel. on. Haven't updated my drivers in a month or so though.

I haven't pick up my new system yet, but It will come with the Sound Blaster Live XGamer 5.1, but my speakers will be the sSound works 4.1 (FPS-1000).

Will this difference between the sound card and the speakers bring me any problems at all or not?.....

Im not really good with hardware, so is this sound card the same as yours (wich means I have the footsteps problems) or maybe not?

THanx

Maybe that's why the foot steps are pretty loud for me in the game.....I bought SB live platinum like 10 months ago but there hasn't been any new drivers for it.....and new ones say it can't be used with platinum.....

Where to find new drivers for SB Live 5.1 in Win98? All I find on Creative's site are old drivers.
