eXor 0 Posted August 29, 2003 I can play for hours sometimes with no incident. Other times I crash to desktop after five minutes. Don't know whether it's something in the recent patches or my hardware or mods as the crashes seem completely random. If there are people here who play online alot and have never crashed then at least the patch itself can be eliminated as a a cause.
Placebo 31 Posted August 29, 2003 Moving this to troubleshooting, I'm pretty sure if you search you'll find similar threads, but I'll leave this open so you can post your system specs and such like if you can't find a recent similar thread
benu 1 Posted August 29, 2003 I play ofp since 1.00 and nearly every day and had one or two ctds in the whole 2+ years. I guess those were not caused by ofp though as i have some programs running in the background most of the times (miranda, fraps, mozilla, putty, etc)... suma 8 Posted August 29, 2003 The most efficient help for crashing is here and there. We already recevied many of reports this way and it really helps to make game more stable. Be assured that even when you do not get any quick reply from this mail account, your files will be carefully investigated and if possible fix will be provided in next patch. dinger 1 Posted August 29, 2003 "random crashes" can be anything. There also seems to be a CTD related to the well-known savegame bug. Particularly complicated game states (many units, scripts and variables) don't get saved properly (the file is corrupted). I find that in those sorts of games, trying to restart the mission will cause a CTD. That is, in all of the cases I tried saving the game, then restarting from the beginning, and got a CTD, the .fps file suffered from the savegame bug. So as the number of complex addons with sophisticated scripting increases, and as computers get better able to handle large numbers of units, the CTDs will increase. I doubt it's 1.92, at least unless we can isolate it. (oh yeah, T-bird 1.4, 768 megs, a couple gigs of Vmem, radeon 64 ddr)
