Imperator 0 Posted August 27, 2003 Hey guys, I hope somebody can point me in the right direction on this problem. I start the server in Linux and get this message: "Dedicated Server Created, Memory Used: 9620kb" Then about 45 seconds later I get this message: "Server Creation Failed : 2302" I'm running Red Hat version 9, Linux Kernel 2.4.20-8 SMP, with Dual Athlon 1800's MP Thunder K7's, and an SDSL 2.3 connection. I've followed the instructions on the BIS site to the letter, so I hope someone else has seen this problem and can help me with a fix. Thanks in advance! killswitch 19 Posted August 27, 2003 <ul> [*]Have the computers hostname set to something [*]Have said hostname and its corresponding IP adress listed in the /etc/hosts file. There are ways to let the dhcp client fix that dynamically, IIRC. [*]Have the nscd (name service caching daemon) service installed and running Oh, and get up2date spinning ASAP and keep the OS current.

Dewey61 0 Posted August 27, 2003 This might be your answer. But on our linux server, you are required to use the screen command before using the start server command. And instead of using whatever command you use, use: ./server -config=server.cfg Our server has same specs, and it works perfect. So when our are in the right directory enter the: screen ./server -config=server.cfg Commands consecutivley and it shouullldddd work
Imperator 0 Posted August 27, 2003 Did all as advised. Checked resolver and returning addresses for fqdn and aliases. Checked reverse dns lookup and worked for ip addresses. We have five address bound to the interface. Also, have an extra adapter that is not configured, if that matters. There is nothing running on that port. There is no server.cfg file in our ofp directory. The path is /home/ofp and it is owned by root.root. I'm current on RH updates, except for kernel. We're using the 191c version of the server patch. Any other ideas?
suma 8 Posted August 27, 2003 You need to start NSCD deamon when using OFP with RedHat 9 - we will add this information into the readme with the next patch.

Next, can someone direct me to a resource on admin commands, how to setup a password, etc? All help is appreciated, thanks again in advance.
benu 1 Posted August 29, 2003 Search function in the forum helps usually ;) There is a DS-Admin.rtf on your resistance cd in the server dir iirc. I think it is also included in the windows dedicated server.
