Music composer

And no one mentioned Mike Giacchino? The guy that made music for all the MoH games and Call of Duty?

Theme from Call of Duty

Operation: Market Garden

(Or the main theme of MoH:FL)

And for you action lovers:

All natural, none of its synthesised. Dont get me wrong, I like OPF music but real instruments sound alot better. smile_o.gifHalftrack Chase

I checked out his Sin tracks jsut now... awsome shiet

Yea i was thinking about him too.  he does a good job, but I'm not exactly sure if he can do the job.

MOH and OFP are two completely different things, while still based on war and combat, one game has ingame music while you play, and one does not.  Thankfully.

Listening to music while you play may not be a problem in some games, but when you truly created a realistic game and the music screws you up, you know a good game was made:)

If you noticed the boys that did CoD found that Mike Giacchino was the man for the job.

This type of realistic game OFP2, wont fit well...

I'm sure he would be great for the cutscenes, but I honestly am still trusting Bill Brown the most..

besides it's very WW2-ish

I don't think existing songs from any band would be appropriate. Just because a band like Coldplay is fairly popular at the moment doesn't mean their songs would fit in with OFP2. Just remember, if you want to listen to the latest music, just fire up Winamp and have it running in the background. Unless it's something appropriate to the period (ie. The Doors, Rolling Stones) or to the experience of war (ie. Barber's Adagio, Albinoni's Adagio), I think the soundtrack should be created specifically for the game.

The soundtrack should definitely be instrumental and, as other people have said, with varying tones and moods. Some tracks should be intense and adrenaline-pumping, some should be quiet and reflective and some more upbeat. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for the 'Thin Red Line' is a really good example of sad, reflective music.

The current composer (Ondrej Matejka?) is great, and I would like to see him back. He gives a really unique atmosphere to the OFP world.

I have to agree with Mr. Snub.. somewhat...

Songs that are popular now, might not be popular as popular when the game is due to be released a few months more than a year... By then there will be new songs, popular and such...

I actually heard my friend singing the "Lifeless" song, and he never played OFP and never knew it was even in the game... So I think 7th did a decent job.

But it's like what Mr. Snub said..

The soundtrack should definitely be instrumental and, as other people have said, with varying tones and moods. And Hans Zimmer is awsome too.

But the thing is these people probably take in a crap load of money. After the released of OFP CWC and Resistance lol... BIS got A-Lot of $$$. As far as I am concerned those 2 brothers at BIS ripped all other games to tiny bits... This game never gets old for some scary reason...it's THAT damn good...

I'm rambling now...

Anyway... Yes...Mr. Snub.... yes...

Some big Symphonic productions tailored to a good OFP style mood would be excellent, but such productions tend to cost ungodly amounts of money.

If they could find some VERY good original symphonic tracks that were cheaply offered by new or independent music groups/productions, that would work well in OFP 2.

not really.. infact it shouldn't cost a cent.. just takes ungodly amounts of time and dedication

Not that it matters too much to me, because my music setting is (and will always be) zero...but please no god awful Midi sounds. The Midi trumpet when you put in your Resistance disc is HORRID! Crackly low quality Midi doesn't cut it. Real instruments or very good quality Midi please.

Not that I'll be listening anyway wink_o.giftounge_o.gif

perhaps the best idea is to have absolutely no music at all, with the option of dropping the users own music files into a directory to be played on particular key bind presses ( ie. shift+< and shift+> ).. this way I'm sure everyone would be happy at all times due to the variety in specific tastes within this community and at large.. afterall this games/simulations main focus is freedom at large (or so I would hope).. and being too specific might please x%, but annoy y% of users

if this sounds too non specific where themed cutscenes come into the picture, then perhaps creating subdirectories within the primary music directory to cater for themes such as energetic, calm, sorrow, victory, failure and whatever else can be thought of, might supliment the lack of themed music for particular occasions
