EricJ 765 Posted January 5 No problem, though the flight model is pretty much the same for the two new ones. I tweaked the flight model for the MH-15M but I think I need to fix the MH-6 as well, I'm not too satisfied with it, or it's just my joystick getting old. EricJ 765 Posted January 5 Apparently, the flight model of the MH-6J didn't need tweaking, I just don't fly light helicopters so it was a bit biased since I fly medium-lift birds. Anyway, I recorded this short so I could show the values I have for the rotors, so you can get into tight spaces with the MH-15M. Originally I had the MH-6 values, and did okay, but a "rotor" strike with the original values necessitated a change and fixing. So here is how it looks with the current radius size for the main and tail rotor, allowing me to get into some tight spaces, the sound used for the AH/MH-15M is that of the default PO-30 Orca sounds. It's good enough as it fits the sound I would believe how the tilt-rotors would sound. And if anybody knows how to animate them moving around that would be cool. ADuke said it was possible, but he never followed through with anything either, so there's that.
EricJ 765 Posted January 6 Was looking into the GAU-19 and if anybody had a good model for it. Turns out vurtual98 (thanks to C Eagle pointing me to it) had a model handy on his GitHub. The models are apparently old, but it's good enough for government work I suppose. Overall, the model looks good and managed to figure out (though it took some copying and pasting) to get the Gatling barrels to move right. It's Arma, so there's that. Anyway here's what it looks like before i added some more stuff to make it more reasonable looking. It has the same magazine as the M3P, 500 rounds, but otherwise is the same as the M3P in function and weapon performance,, it just looks more tacticool with the rotating barrels and such: http://ericjwrites.itgo.com/Arma3/wip2007.jpg
EricJ 765 Posted January 9 Decided to work on an MH-60A, which I believe was the first (not much info on it after some Googling), so I found a photograph of one on Facebook, and made it so: http://ericjwrites.itgo.com/Arma3/wip2008.jpg It still needs work, and working on adding the L cockpit to the model, so it's reasonably historically accurate to some degree. The geometries plopped in fine, so you'll see the okay cockpit when you fly it. I hope to get out a new update to the EricJ Helicopter Pack on Saturday. The A version can only seat four people and I need to adjust the fuel value for the fuel tanks, but overall that's how it looks so far.
EricJ 765 Posted January 9 Okay doing some Googling found out that the image that I have from Facebook, was from 1987, and not during Operation Gothic Serpent, which a more blackened MH-60A was done, and closer to the L version, so I'm going with the 1987 version right now. I could call it (Early) so you all know that it's different from the OGS version that was deployed in Somalia at that time.
EricJ 765 Posted January 16 And the MH-60A: http://ericjwrites.itgo.com/Arma3/wip2009.jpg It's the version that according to sources participated in Operation Gothic Serpent, or my mind might be fuzzy too on this one, but it's a type that was flown by SOAR prior to the K and so on. And is probably the last helo I will introduce for a while. Nothing else is in the works (unless something comes along) for now, but this is what will be included in tomorrow's update. EricJ 765 Posted January 18 While I think the views of most of the helos are pretty good, I think the AH/MH-6/15s need some tweaking, and I just did that, so here's a short video of me flying around (not that well in some places), showing the new angle that I configged recently:
EricJ 765 Posted January 20 Been reading a book on the 160th, and pretty much been inflating that unit a bit in the EricJ Helicopter Pack. Nothing special but introduced a Medic unit: http://ericjwrites.itgo.com/Arma3/wip2010.jpg So far I haven't found much else to add from the book, as well it focuses on the helo pilots and not the Soldiers that much. I did make a few more Unarmed Prowlers for support vehicles, an Ammo, Repair, and Fuel versions. For some reason I can't make the schemes visible when placed in the Eden Editor, other than using Edit Vehicle Appearance, which allows you to select them for FARP duties and the like.
