Opf crashes to desktop ..

Recommended Posts

Ok,

I solved my problem with the crashing to desktop.

I downloaded Directx 9.0b again and installed that. After looking into the dxdiag i found out that there was one dll from the nvidia card that wasn t certified. nv4blablabla.dll ( sry i m on hols, cant check right now )

To make a long story short.

- Reinstall directx

- Let windows choose his own Nvidia driver ( on my pc he took an old driver from the end of 2001 crazy_o.gif , but at least i get no more crashes ! )

- Run dxdiag again and check if all drivers are certified.

That should be about it.

I got NO crashes anymore whatsoever ! I let iNeo do the same thing and i think all in all he crashed 1 more time since ( on a very addonheavy CTI map late in the game )

A little late but hope it helps !

Cheers,

Hi there,

I have Windows XP, Geforce4Ti, 1900 AMD, Asus A7a266-E ( I thik its via chip) 785 MB sdram.

I downloaded the latest drivers for my Creative Live! soundcard..

The problem is that when i enter a helicopter the sound starts crackiling, the sound goes off completely... and bunk.... blue screen in windows and the hole system restarts...

It only happens when entering a vehicle with the latest soundcard drivers for my card.

It gets solved if i install W2000 drivers that came with the old cd of my card ( the card is nearly 2.5 years old )

Thats a shit cause i would like to use latest drivers with this game.

Obviously i can stay like this cause OFP is for me like water or food but i would like to use the latest drivers.

Thanks in advance.

P.D. I´ve been reading that there are problems with combination AMD+via... i have this combination  sad_o.gif  sad_o.gif  sad_o.gif

Is there a tool to work around it??

i´ll read abput that.

There should be no need of upgraded Sound Card Drivers, there is almost no difference between the new ones and the old.

Sound drivers are not as Gfx drivers where new drivers boost performace and add features.

I had the same problem, with sound in OFP (no other game or application). After a while the comp rebooted (esp after big explosions I experienced a freeze). It says its a driver problem afterwards.

Creative is a shit company, dizzy updates (are many almost the same), and it's a shame that they are the only big sound card manufacturer.

Nah, it's probably not soundcard drivers.

I have 2 computers which are often used to play LAN games of OFP.

My first PC is always crashing to desktop especially when running FDF Mod and using command view or 3rd Person, The second PC virtually never crashes.

- PC One

running OFP Resistance 1.91 at 1600 x 1200

2.6 Ghz Intel P4

Intel 875P Chipset

1Gb DDR Giel Memory with heatspreaders

GeForce 4 ti4400 128Mb with latest drivers

160Gb HDD 7,200 RPM RAID0

SoundMAX Onboard Sound

Windows XP

- PC Two

running OFP GOTY 1.91 at 1280 x 1024

1.5 Ghz Intel P4

Intel 845 Chipset

512 Mb SDRAM

GeForce 3 ti200 128Mb with latest drivers

140Gb HDD 7,200 RPM

Soundblaster Live! 5.1

Windows XP

As I said above PC Two never crashes and is no way near as powerful as PC One

The problem is that when i enter a helicopter the sound starts crackiling, the sound goes off completely... and bunk.... blue screen in windows and the hole system restarts...

I used to get that whenever I played a pretty heavy map, but I think I got rid of that with the Jap-cure (not sure though).

I FINALLY SOLVED THIS PROBLEM, for me that is!

I used KEGETYS methode, but think i made mistake first.

Here description of KEGETYS methode:

- Find the programs UNPBO and MAKEPBO on internet, somewhere on flashpoint sites.

- BACKUP O.pbo somewhere safe (\temp1) then COPY it to a second dir. (\temp2)

- run UNPBO , (select direcetoy temp2)

the program UNPBO will create a dir called \O     (\temp2\O)

- open the directory, CUT 2 files named:

context.bin

stringtable.csv

to a new directory  (temp3\O)

- run MAKEPBO , (select directory  \temp3\O )

you'll now get a small O.PBO files (with 2 files in it)

place this new small O.PBO file into  OFP\RES\ADDON  dir. *overwrite, since you've backup the file

NOW  CUT the O directory from TEMP2\O  to your FLASHPOINT ROOT   c:\games\operationflashpoint

you'll get  c:\games\operationflashpoint\o

the 2 files aren't in there. the rest is.

~Now Try

*i've just tested it like few times, but this is the only way i got away with my crashing on a specific place.

Sskunk
