the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 Who saw this program (in England on ITV) about the SAS? its pretty silly, since *SPOILER* He shoots through a man, AND into another girl, with an MP-5 which uses 9mm bullets if i am not wrong, and she STILL died. Im not really a gun expert, but i dont think this is realistic. And that flashbang was very flashy and bangy. This is supposed to get a discussion up about it and it will be going on for a bit (new series) the_unknown_one
John C Flett 0 Posted June 22, 2003 I didn't see this episode but I've caught some previous ones and thought they were pretty poor. Broadly speaking I don't think British TV has the money or the talent ( front or back of camera ) to make these kind of shows well. People used to complain in the UK about American TV but these days even bad American shows seem to be far better made than anything we do here.
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 Some Brit programs are good, like "Spooks", or, say, "Human Instinct" (and read the book - very interesting) but ITV is mainly a cheap rip-off. However, there are some good american programs (i dont know how "famous" it is in America but its quite popular here) such as 24, and CSI (at least i though it was good). the_unknown_one
ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 22, 2003 24 and CSI are very popular here. unfortuntately, many american kids were pouring their heart out on every week watchin American Idol, which is copy of Idol from UK. and yes, Simon is there too. speaking of bullets, i'm not an expert, but i think a 9mm, given a few circumstances, could penetrate a human and hit person behind. I enjoyed the last series of Ultimate force and hope this will be just as good RED
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 Oh Right. Now it makes sense. but surely the SAS guy would know to shoot at the mouth (this disconnects the nerve stopping the hand from clenching the tigger, thus firing the gun) ? the_unknown_one P.S Does anyone have a reason for the "Flashbang" exploding like a grenade?
NurEinMensch 0 Posted June 22, 2003 Don't underestimate the 9mm x 19 when it comes to penetration. In fact police forces complain about the 9mm FMJ to be overpenetrating and because of that dangerous for bystanders. So to answer your question: Yes it is realistic to shoot through someone with it and kill the person behind him.
DracoPaladore 0 Posted June 22, 2003 And that flashbang was very flashy and bangy. Â Hence the name flashbang
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 hehe thanks NurEinMensch. Draco you realy should have seen the "flashbang". it was more like a HE grenade if ever i saw one. (i havent, but if i saw tht i would think it was a HE grenade) the_unknown_one P.S. cool sig Draco, i like that song too (Ich Will)
Shadow NX 1 Posted June 22, 2003 If you want an unrealistic series you should try to watch the russian tv series SPETSNAZ... Well its not too bad for russian tv but far too heroic and some things were a bit unrealistic in the few episodes ive seen
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 hehe cool sounds good the_unknown_one

Ultimate Force isn't realistic, but it's good old mindless violence. Can't be bad to that. I'll be buying the first series on DVD
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 22, 2003 o YEY SHE SURVIVED! she was pretty fit, i want to see more action the_unknown_one
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 23, 2003 Oh, and another thing... if they are french special forces, then why does that guy reapetedly shoot the goodie with the uzi? surely theyd be trained to be more... civil? the_unknown_one
PHY_Hawkeye 0 Posted June 24, 2003 Because after he was shot, he went for his weapon while he was on the deck, therefor he was still a danger, so the French dude shot him again. I'm sure and SF operator would do the same, given the situation. On a side note, I can't find the damned DVD boxed set anywhere
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 24, 2003 ok... i see what you mean. it just seemed a bit.... vicious. If they were french special forces, ewhy didnt they havethere own guns? they just had crappy uzis and ak's. unless thats what they use... i just thought they could have gone in real quick and killed teh terrorists, instead of having to infiltrate their way in. the_unknown_one
NurEinMensch 0 Posted June 24, 2003 No offense but that sounds like made-up-crap that isn't worth spending a second thought.
the_unknown_one 0 Posted June 24, 2003 hehe... its made up cra, but its got a sexy woman in who has sex with someone (repeatedly i hope), guns, and explosive entries. What more could you want the_unknown_one
NurEinMensch 0 Posted June 24, 2003 A rather intelligent story? I know, I'm different, my mom told me when I was little.
Crazysheep 1 Posted June 24, 2003 Speaking of British television, State of Play is opposite to Ultimate Force in every possible way. Most fundamentally is the fact that it's actually good.
Major Gripe 0 Posted June 24, 2003 Did anyone see the spooks on BBC3 yesterday night at 10ish? Oh my God, if that is a realistic portrayal of British Intelligence I take back all I said about the ineptitude of American intelligence!
monkeygoat 0 Posted June 24, 2003 Heh, I saw that. I don't think I've laughed quite so hard in a long time.
Guest DKM-jaguar Posted June 24, 2003 The spooks was so crap!! and he ultimate force is rubbish...almost as bad as "redcap" which was about military police, but the men were always wrong and the main woman was the noly one to come up with any good ideas. It was only about the miltary in the begining. BUT, i did like the first episode of the last series wit the warrior AFV, it looked very cool. Ultimate force is not too bad if you dont take it seriously. I like seeing G3 rifles being fired anyway
