Mission/campaign type

Recommended Posts

I am in the US Marines as an infantryman and I'm trying to make a realistic campaign with realistic missions, (not arcade like). The lowest you'll ever go is a fire team in size, not 1 or 2 man insertion missions. I was just wondering if there was intrest in this kind of campaign. Just remember, not all the missions are going to be exciting, because real combat and real missions are mostly boring with short conflicts.

Plus I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me someplace where I might find writing on real Soviet tactics in 1985, website, book, other? crazy_o.gif

I want more campains!! And not the kind "you alone against the evil save the world kind"....

I want war.

Offcourse some blackop missions are spicy in a campain The official "1985" is a great example of balance in missions and difficulty.

in response to avonlady: I'm on deployment right now so I'm going to work hard on a campaign just to stay busy

In response to andersson: I plan to have a few Marine recon and force recon missions. Obviously the force recon missions you will be a member of a direct action platoon in a force recon company. I already have one mission done where you are the leader of a four man TRAP team. You are conducting a NEO (noncombatant evacuation operation) at the US embassy in Nogova. Your team has to get the ambassador out and then act in support of the platoon that has security at the lz while civilians come running up to be evaced.

And the new: As part of the campaign, I may have to make some missions where there is no combat at all. Like: security patrolling, recon patrolling. I'll try to make every mission so there is the opportunity for combat, but your not supposed to get engaged, like marine recon missions behind enemy lines.

I'm also coming up with a script where you can call for fire and do adjust fire missions

ultimately, I want the campaign to encompass every kind of mission possible for an infantry unit.

sounds good smile_o.gif

I love recon! I´m recon myself . Finnish "coastal hunter". In a amfibious recongroup. (not as work!! just incase of war. Did my year in the finnish army)

I can just sneak around and listen to armor and try to identify them when I see them. Good as practise smile_o.gif

Anyway....

I´m looking forward to the campain. wants a campain that has noncombat-recon-, cannonfodder- and some hard skill missions.

btw there are good arty scripts at ofpec.com. There is one realistic script for calling and adjusting arty.

response to bronzeeagle: I want to create my own campaign that encompasses an all out war in which the player will take on several types of real-life missions and go through them. I already have the general idea of the plot for the war, the missions in the campaign will relate to that plot.

The plot: All the islands make up the nation of Nogova, an island chain in the north atlantic. Kolgujev is rebellious to national government and is friendly to soviets. US has a strong presence on Malden with a limited air wing detached to everon with an infantry company to act as security. The embassy is on Nogova itself. The soviets take out a small american radar outpost on the desert island (I call it Alameda). Then they invade Everon and crush the US forces there. They then start to move on Malden but are thrown back into the sea. American then begins its attack on everon, takes it, then moves on to kolgujev to rid that island of soviet presence. Then some final mopping up missions on Nogova itself. Added element: FIA is a terrorist organization friendly to nobody that is in the island chain.

okay, one thing I forgot to add. I'm going ahead on this campaign and so far i have 2 missions done with one nearing completion. Here's my problem though, all my missions make for good gameplay, but I don't really have any media to them like intro-outros, cutscenes, and custom voices. Any communication I use is just text. Is this a problem for people or will they still enjoy a campaign that has just the necessary parts with no glitz or glamor? Also, the breifings follow the format of the five paragraph order that the marines use making them somewhat dry but informative with all the neccessary info.

Text is fine wink_o.gif

Most missions made for ofp dont have voice actors, you get used to text.

Intros and stuff are nice, but a good briefing and working marker links etc is good enough I think (and a good mission, of course). I do like to see a good intro/outro/cutscene though.
