Silverguy 0 Posted May 11, 2003 Does anyone know if a Laser Range Finder addon exists and where can I find them? I heard from a guy last night that they do indeed exist. Thanks.

Shashman 0 Posted May 12, 2003 What's the point? When you have acquired a target it tells you the range...Also when you right click on a contact (whether a vehicle or infantry) it gives you an approximate range...And what would be the point of knowing the exact range? Would it be for artillery?
M1carbine9 0 Posted May 12, 2003 yeah i was thinking about that addon too, but released that OFP has a built in one in thru the players eye, how convient
dinger 1 Posted May 12, 2003 The "range indicator" given in the radio information is very imprecise: 1000/500/200/100/50m Unless you play in cadet mode, you don't get a range indication You don't get a range indication for objects that aren't bandits. The answer is: there are conversions out there to turn the Laser Designator into a Laser Designator/Range Finder. It's not so much an addon, but a set of scripts. This is because they ideally work with triggers. YOu can make a scan script, but it would be a little much on the cpu time for an addon.
Silverguy 0 Posted May 12, 2003 thanks for the suggetions guys. But no, that all is not what I'am looking for. I make sniper maps to play online, people vs people. And I have found the range finders in cadet mode to be inaccurate and I think that is somewhat cheating when you move your cursor and it instantly shows the man's range and gives his position. What i need is a laser range finder, a true one that you can pull out temporarily like the Binoculars. So you can get the range of a target when it is sighted. I would not want a laser designator either because that too would give off someone's position with it sticking out of bushes and what not. Thanks.
Guest Hitman[SWAF] Posted May 12, 2003 I have thought about this too, would be good for sniper spotters. But I think its quite much impossible in OFP. But who am I to say? Waiting for someone to make it up
-CCCP-Stalker 0 Posted May 12, 2003 It is one in Dingers Arty Suite.
The_Captain 0 Posted May 12, 2003 You could just duct tape a script to the laser designator itself... Use a getpos and some math and a 'laser designator trapper' script, and you could display the range using titletext or a looping hintbox (Which woud be kind of annoying)
