Impavido 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Bring more equipment to OFP-2, we need more than just guns and binoculars. All guns are generally the same and shoot bullets so I don't get excited about a list of new guns like some gamers. Stuff I'd like to see other than the basic Binoc/NVGoggles: -Mine detectors -Mine defusal kits -One use medical kits (dont fully heal your character but can steady your aim and running distance, medic or medic tent still needed for actual healing) -One use vehicle repair kits (Dont fully repair a damaged vehicle but repairs its armor by 25-50% and make it operational, can't be use on destroyed vehicles) -Remote camera sentry or some form of wire-trip enemy detection Anybody got more? Feel free to pipe in.
Goeth 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Vehicle repair kits? Are you insane, let´s just leave that kind of shit to bf 1942.
Jinef 2 Posted May 6, 2003 Ahh if only i could pull a little spanner out of my pocket and do away with the 30 REMEs that are usually needed. I agree with Goeth, vehicle 'repair' kits are a bit of a silly idea. But equipment we should have (some previously mentioned) - Different types of NVDs, machine gun starlight scopes etc. (with a more realistic sight, maybe a slight whine from the battery etc.) Mines and tripwires, set off flares and be able to cut wires with multitools, but don't make it obvious like having an action (you could just crawl along carelessly and cut them because they are in the action menu, maybe bind it to a key) A pencil, on the map you have a drawing device so you can draw info on, plus more markers. Mossie Rep and suncream, if it's vietnam there's loads of bugs and sun and you need protection. If you find this funny it's a joke, if not it's a serious suggestion. Goeth 0 Posted May 6, 2003 That pencil or somekind of drawing tool would be more than welcome. There´s nothing more annoying than drawing some assault route to your squad with those markers.
Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Yea Goeth.. or at least set the default marker to dots not the destroy icon.
gameworx 0 Posted May 6, 2003 Yeah, things like mobile Radios (e.g. PRC25 from 'Nam) should be seen on the back of a soldier like in some addons. I like these big radios. Maybe with some kind of real function in OFP2... ...think about that: Every player can use his headset for voicecom. But what would be if only players near can hear you? Its like talking or shouting in real life. ...but a player with a radio could talk over the whole battlefield to other "radio operators". ...that would be amazing and more realistic

You have to play MP in directplay, i dont think it works in sockets, and VON has to be configured in the ofp preferences. I have only tried it once, when i first got OFP, and it worked quite well, the longer you moved from the person who was speaking the harder is was to hear him. Impavido 0 Posted May 7, 2003 I agree with Gameworx, the radios should be an actual item in the game. Sure you can use voice or chat to talk with buds but to call in Artillery, air cover, or anything related to a radio code, requires one to have the radio with them. Think of a scenario- Your team is in deep kafka and you run for cover only to learn that the radio-man got bagged and is out in the open in front of enemy Line-of-sight.....OH YEA IT'S TIME FOR A HERO *Braving enemy fire, Impavido runs to retrieve the radio set! Bullets whizz by and bite at his heels. He dives for the body of the radio man and rips it right off his back, tearing the straps. His team mates yell "Run run run!" as they try to provide what covering fire they can with their dwindling ammo supply. Tripping on a rock, Impavido falls face first into the rocks, using the radio to break his fall. The radio shatters like a childs toy....... "D'OH!"* That would be cool....well, except for the whole "I trip and get you all killed" part....
1B1KSniper 0 Posted May 7, 2003 Vehicle repair kits... bad idea... Spare tires or something like that for jeeps and cars... good idea... But it should take time to do and you should be able to abort and continue later if you were attacked...
LT.Schaffer 0 Posted May 7, 2003 Hi, Just to add another idea: How about when you get in a vehical you have to start the car{like in Real life with an ignition}.and sometimes the car might not start if you had the engine shot by the enemy...or if you ran out of gas... Dubble0zero 0 Posted May 7, 2003 For me it would be a better game if it is a better car/flight/boat simulator, so by that yes, engine starting and gears would be good... But as options, so people can choose by them selves...
Impavido 0 Posted May 8, 2003 Well, sounds good until you're in a jeep being chased by a BMP or an aircraft. i'll be too damn busy driving my ass off to want to worry about shifting gears. Unatomber 0 Posted May 8, 2003 I think user toggleable manual/automatic gears would be a nice feature.. Tanks in current flashpoint seem to lack horsepower, they always slow down dramatically on hills, maybe a config entry for horsepower could be implemented?
Unatomber 0 Posted May 8, 2003 Another nice feature would be user customisable lifetime of ammunition.. this would make it possible to make a proper mortar, similar to Upminder's. The problem is that 'shells' only live for 20 seconds now.. this limits the range of the mortar significantly.
