Texture very low quality in o2

Hey all, this is my first post here but I usually check out this forum everyday from work.

I have a question dealing w/textures. I modeled a plane in My 3d app and I learned how to export from  that to 02 with the textures intact. My texture file is a 32 bit, 1024 by 1024 pixel file that looks great in the app but in 02, even though it is mapped correctly, it looks like crap!

 I can't export 3ds. It has to be either dxf, obj or vrml and then I import that file into 3dsmax for export to 3ds.

I have been using vrml2 - is vrml2 the problem here? Does this format degrade the texture size too much?

What is the best export option for me?

if you mean textures are bad in O2 but good ingame then you'll have to modify, change the flashpoint.cfg file in bulldozers folder. a better reply is somewhere here in the forum i think.

And what I learned to do is this:

Fire up Operation Flashpoint, go into the settings and max out alot of the details

Quit out of OFP,copy the Flashpoint.cfg to your O2 dir, then you can go back into OFP to turn the details back down

1. VRML doesnt work in ofp.

2. your graphics would already have been further compressed in vrml.

3. just a suggestion:- perhaps u might wanna try 24bit instead of 32bit and set your resolution to 150 and above, save as jpg then apply it in 02. 24bit jpg and paa/pac files will not be further compress in ofp engine. if it looks crappy, it could be due to your game options settings.....but if u apply 32bit textures, it will automatically be converted and compress within ofp engine and that will result in much pixel info loss - maybe becoming 16bit or less?

by using "deep exploration" you can convert from .max to .3ds files.  i guess this aint the prob, but atleast i know this prog converts a valid 3ds file... something progs like milkshape seem to have problems with..
