Crash and black screen with hight settings

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a crash problem when I set the video settings to ultra.

First of all, my config which is rather powerful:

I9 13900K

RTX 3090 FE

32Go DDR5 - 6000Mhz

Nothing is overclocked

1050W power supply

So, when I put all the video parameters in ultra,  view at 12000m, I quickly, sometimes just by being on the start menu, have crashes.

These crashes consist of:

- a black screen

- continuous sound for 10 or 20s then stop

- and especially at the time of the black screen the graphics card fans start running at 100%. (first time i have this) and don't stop

I no longer have access to windows, and I have to do a hard reset of the computer.

I've never had this kind of crash before, even when I had a less powerful computer.

These crashes happen even when I don't use any mods.

But when the settings are low, I don't have any crashes

I play in 2k (2560 x 1440)

When the computer crash, the temps of the GPU and CPU are ok

I don't have any crash issues when playing other games, even those that require more power from my GPU

I think the problem is with DX 11 or the memory /virtual memory

But I don't know how to fix it.

Here the end of my rtp, a mission launched from the editor on Tanoa, no mod, only one character on the map and crash after about 30 seconds of walking

I tried:

- change memory allocator

- increase win10 power settings

- reinstall arma 3

- turn off all my programs and other processes

- install the latest nvidia drivers

- turn off g-sync

- update all the drivers for all my hardware, including my bios

Ideas ?

Thanks in advance

I used to get similar crashes when playing 'Hell Let Loose' with the exact same black screen and topped-out GFX card fan speed combo - it sounded like my PC was damn close to taking flight.

Updating my GFX card drivers seemed to resolve the issue but if you're still having issues with having already done that, perhaps try rolling back a version or two until you find a version that (hopefully) fixes it.

Also make sure your not overheating, i would get a black screen some years ago when i ran two graphics cards together,

discovered that the bottom gpu was heating up the top gpu and i would get a black screen because of it, i removed the top gpu and the issue stopped.

Just a thought, imo clean your case out of any dust as it will act like insulation so make sure things are cool, then go from there,

heating issues are simple fixes if that may the case.
