Danke very much.

Being the determined and perfectionist personality that i am (not to mention obsessive compulsive tounge.gif ) I've decided i MUST GET 3 STARS! Time to find a song that inspires me to make a nice lil scene. Then i'll try and recreate another elite mission to play when done watching. biggrin.gif

I just added a 3-star entry for the AEF Campaign Trailer. Uses OFP music only.

Usually, the music is secondary to the clip, don't you think?

Personally, you could have the coolest song in the world, but if the camera work sucks, then it sucks, plain and simple. But i find the music can be inspirational. My life revolves around music. And i was sitting back and listening to mah Deftones CD and turned on this song. And the part with that women singing/screaming/going nuts, i found it to be very inspirational and sent a sort of feeling of sadness throughout. Thus why that part of the song mainly shows all the dead bodies and whatnot. If given the right sequence of events and setting, music can add alot to a scene. I wouldn't say its necessary, not in the least, but like i said, given the right circumstances, it can really help to add alot. I used to make cutscenes all the time using OFP's music, then i found that by adding my own, i could help emphasis the point in which i was trying to get across in the scene.

Last week, or perhaps the week before, I was experimenting with my video gear and decided to give OFP filmmaking a try. This is an EXPERIMENT and not meant to tell a story or be all fancy and whatnot, so bear that in mind. This is basically a compilation of 3 or so missions on BAS Intel Raid the first time I had played it with my squad. First person view, third person spectator mode, cut to some music because I hadn't quite figured out how to record in game sounds (which I now have).

BIG DOWNLOAD!!

DivX 5 Version, 50MB, 7:50m long, great quality for doublesizing.

Windows Media 8, 24MB, 7:50, looks good 100% but not bigger

http://www.mphasemedia.com/extrane....wm8.wmv

Feel free to let me know what you think, good or bad (doesn't mean I have to agree though, hehe). I'm thinking that this type of filming will be most handy for tournament matches and training exercises.

Cheers!

What hardware/software did you use to produce the video?

Well it's not O/MTV material yet, for the reasons you yourself give.

Too many random scenes, jumping from 1st to 3rd to scope to compass - these are obvious.

However, next time, try a lot more spectator view, following your team like a news cameraman. When the war is over, get back to the studio and, after a lot of editing, you may have yourself one clear smooth report of the battle.

Good things come in small packages. Don't force yourself to stretch out a clip's time just to cover the music. Keep the music secondary. The most important thing is the cinematics.

I'm using the following gear setup...

GeForce 4 Ti4200 videocard w/s-video output

Canon GL1 miniDV digital camcorder

stereo splitter (mini headphone plug to 2 mini headphone jacks)

Attach the digital videocamera to the s-video output on the videocard. Set the video to clone mode. Connect the Y cable to my sound card and connect a sound cable to my videocamera and also connect my headphones to the other portion of the Y cable. Start up OFP, drop in a miniDV cassette, and hit record. When I'm finished recording I send the footage back into my computer by connecting my videocamera's firewire port to the computer's firewire port and editting inside of Adobe Premiere.

When I get some more time I will look into making more stylized videos that are more enjoyable to watch. Definitely need to work out a better way to use spectator mode. If I could only get rid of those cinema black bars at the top and bottom and still change views. Oof.

Avon i have a suggestion, which might help you and all of us. How about a requirements page? So we know exactly what you are looking for. This way you can get through everything easier and possibly faster.

I know myself i would greatly appreciate that. Anyone else feel that would help them?

Requirements? LOL! Just make it worth most folks download. Of course, at O/MTV, I'm the one that sets that opinion. wink.gif

The only restrictions I have is that I general don't accept clips with lewd music, words or scenes. Only had two come across my way so far. One I put on OMTV with a cautionary note. The other, the site said they'd contact the clip's producer to see if he could substitute the music.

Now keep on trying! smile.gif

The Kovenant - Chariots of Thunder.

The coolest tank song in the world, at least in my mind biggrin.gif

i have found a nice song.

Manowar - Shell shock

and it's about the Vietnam war. wink.gif

lyrics:

Shell Shock

I don't know

Well there's no charge for the haircut

And the bullets come free

My Uncle Sam sent a letter, said:

He's got a mission for me

Now I'm a ranger, not a stranger

And I live in Saigon

We've got a team of special forces

And we deliver napalm

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind

Maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find

About the time this letter gets home

I'll be gone, gone, yeah gone

And if they tell you that I'm M.I.A.

Think a little less about me each day

'Cause if I ever get back

I'll be shell shocked

Feels funny riding in my car

Used to drive a tank and shoot a B.A.R.

I know I'm home

But I feel gone, gone, yeah gone

Now it's over and the homeland's safe

Got a purple heart to show the world I'm brave

The businessmen sat home

Well I got shell shocked
