Dedicated server - Friends cannot join

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Could someone possibly advise on this?

I have set up a dedicated server to play with a few friends on a separate machine.

I have no problems finding the server in the community browser and can join perfectly fine without any problems.

My friends also find it and try join and get the following error:

Connection has failed.

Do you want to join the last played server?

Kick cause code: group=1 'REPLICATION', reason=3 'CONNECTION_FAILURE'

Check console logs for more details.

ALL Required Ports have been opened/forwarded. They find the server in the bowser but keep getting this over and over when joining.

Rather frustrating 😞

having similar issue - server created on PC - tried to join using the xbox and I can join but friends cant. Adjusted the "gameHostBindAddress":  and then get a normal ping rather than 999 but I cannot then join and we both get the above error

The exact same thing here adjusting the gameHostBindAddress, same results. This games net code seems completely screwed. I hope they fix it soon. Seems like a nice new version of ARMA but unfortunately as it stands I requested a refund on steam for the time being untill they can sort these issues out.

Just to verify: The gameHostRegisterBindAddress is set to the external (routers) ip address? Port forwarding is correct?

I recon you did try it without mods?

Does the server log show any information about the connection?

- edit - Keep gameHostBindAddress at 0.0.0.0

Yep. All set and no mods. Same result. Games netcode is fubar clearly and not a single fix since its been released. Rather dissapointed. Thankfully got a refund.

Everyone tells you to forward  Port TCP 2001
But after a whole night of sharing logs and crawling the Internet for the correct Answer, a friend of mine found the Solution.
And now I feel dedicated to share it with everyone I came across on my search for this.

I'm a bit late but, here are the ports that require forwarding:

TCP: 27015, 27036
UDP: 2001, 17777, 27015, 27031-27036

XBox
    TCP: 3074
    UDP: 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500

Now everything just works.
Hope it helps.

I know this is an old post but ran into this error tonight, but found the issue right away.

Always check the IP address you have set in forwarding. Unless it is set to a static address it may have changed during a reboot. If that changes then your port forwarding will obviously not work but the server will still be visible.
