sseagle 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Run dxdiag and turn off hardware acceleration of sound. Works for me.
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 23, 2003 1. If you disable hardware acceleration for sound, you don't get EAX. For many (most?), this is not a workable solution. 2. DXG.SYS is the DirectX graphics driver. I would either get a DX9-compatible graphics driver, or revert back to DX8, since there is absolutely no reason at this point to run DX9. 3. Regarding the crackling, someone on this board recently mentioned that setting the DWORD value for Turbo to 0 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx\DriverSettings\Wave\Pin#00000002 cured his SoundBlaster problems without disabling hardware acceleration and losing advanced sound features. (not responding at all!! in fact i think they just aren t able to do anything!<span id='postcolor'> Hmmm well forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly but I'm sure I recall them putting into either a patch or into Res a different method of doing the sounds that reduces the crackling as much as they possibly can, the rest is a problem of creative drivers and/or via drivers, pci latency etc. ie hardware crap which is completely out of Bis' control, but as I said I could well be remembering wrongly Just best to be careful what you assume something simply because Bis don't repeat the same posts time after time after time
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Hmm, a problem that affects other games besides OFP, and which can be fixed by changing a Creative Labs registry entry -- I don't see how you can blame this one on BIS...
